    Why drawing in those days?

    Hello,

I'm already for some time on this forum, but i got a problem. When i joined this site i was really motivated about drawing, for game design, but also just because i thought it's fun. After a while, and looking through the drawing that are made on the forum, i'm more and more demotivated. It is because i now see that there thousands of people who can draw. And i also have searched on Deviantart, for hours, but if i look at the drawing that are made, almost everything you could think about is already made. So know i'm really dissapointed about learning to draw. Why should i learn to draw? Also the games that are made on this world aren't original at the moment. All those developers keep making Rpg's, but everything is the same..!

You know. If I applied your logic to other things, I should just lock myself in a room and not do anything "because it has been done before" and "other people are doing it"

Well fuck, I just realized people have locked themselves in rooms before...guess I need to do something different.

In other words OP...so what? Do it because you like doing it. Yes you'll see a lot of the same crap or a lot of crap. However, that shouldn't stop you from doing something you like...

Arshes beat me to it. All the games in the world are unoriginal? Well........ go make a game that's original then.

Also, no one is forcing you to learn to draw either. You're totally free to learn to do something else if you can't find any reason to draw. Or just concentrate on game design.

Literally everything ever in the world has been done before and is being done by thousands, but nothing has been done in quite the way you would do it if you put your mind to it.

Your work just won't stand out until you put a ton - a ton - of time into it, and that's true of any creative field.

We are cups, constantly and quietly being filled. The trick is, knowing how to tip ourselves over and let the beautiful stuff out.

So wait, how much drawing did you actually do? Honestly, you sound like the sort of person was in love with the idea of being an artist, but now you're disappointed that there's actual work involved. In which case, yeah, good riddance.

    SO??

The work is awesome, think of what YOU could do with it. Think of how much fun its gonna be when you can just create a world or bring something to life with just a few brush strokes! All of these people can so it so you will too! It's going to be so much fun!

    SO??

If LOTS of people can get to the ability where they are having fun doing awesome things it means theres an even better chance you can too!

    SO??

That doesn't make it any less fun. More stuff, more ideas to play with and make your own. More character archetypes to bring to life or twist to your desires. More methods to merge and mix and match. The more cool ideas that are out there the more you can indulge them and have fun!

What??? short term memory loss? You already said "just because i thought it's fun." What difference does the rest make!?

Fantastic! You see something has monotony and mediocrity! Take those themes repeated to death and twist them, colour them, give them new life and new character! That's fun!

Actually, there's a whole bunch of shortcuts to learning to draw and making money at it, making drawing both fun and profitable nearly instantly! So much of life is so easy, why shouldn't drawing and making money at it be easy too!

Well. I try to think of drawing as universal thing. It's a way of communication that can be applied to many media. Not just games. This way you never see any dead ends.

Tonight for dinner, I made baked potatoes.

I bathed the potatoes to remove impurities from their flesh, anointed them with oils, spices and minerals then placed them into the sacrificial pyre for the traditional two hours.

Now, millions of baked potatoes have been made since this particular tuber was introduced to our shores in Elizibethan times, so you may ask "what is the point, been done already"?

The point is that you get to eat a really nice baked potato.

Mature cheddar and spring onion filling if you were wondering. Nice side salad.

Why bizarre grammar in those days?

Yeah, I was thinking I'd like to fight a kangaroo.

Well, crap! There's a ton of people fightin' roos on the interwebs. . .

    Pffft. Where's the glory. . . .

(Plus, I don't really have any access to a kangaroo at the moment.)

Maybe it's just me, but I really didn't see any real question in your original post. What do "why you are drawing those days" even mean?!

I think he means "Why are you drawing these days?" or "What keeps you motivated to draw in this modern age where great artists are seemingly infinite and new ideas are seemingly absent?" That's what I assumed anyway.

Well, i now see that some people where maybe thinking that i'm very negative about drawing, or something like that. But please don't be angry to me, i was just interested if there are much original or very unique concepts/drawings. I also like drawing, and i'm going to start my own sketchbook as fast as possible, i'm sorry if someone has misunderstood what i meant. Sorry for my English, if it's sometimes maybe not as good as it needs to be.

We'd only be angry if you decided to give up. Which is what
    it sounded like.

Don't worry about the english, just get that sketchbook started!
