basic shapes and forms, (circle square rectangle, pentagon in 3d.) lighting of these shapes?

    Or hands,
    Or Feet
Or Any part of the body,
    or animals?
    or architecture?
    or mechanical
    or still life?
    or random object?

When focusing on a subject i reckon start with learning about the shape (do like say 100 quick sketches in different perspective) then go onto lighting, then colour and then i dunno heh maybe?

Since we started with some anatomy I personally feel it would be fun to continue with the figure drawing theme for a little bit. Either that or basic shapes and their lighting as Care suggested.

Any of these sound good to me, the beauty of this study group is that members suggest the next assignment just as @OldManPsylus suggested our first one We learn from each other

So if you want to set the next assignment @Care ;D I like your suggestion about shape and doing 100 quick studies

Just a heads up, I might not be able to participate in next week's assignment due to moving and all that jazz. Not sure if that's the kind of thing you guys want to know about, so I'm announcing it just in case.

    ASSIGNMENT 2

Aim to show at least 1 set of our very best:
    ------------
Front, side, and back view hands - Bone

Front, side, and back view hands - Muscle

    CGCookie tutorial: http://cgcookie.com/concept/2011/12/...g-human-hands/

    -------------
Do as many sets as you like, but try and get 1 good set of each to show by next <strike>Friday 31st August</strike> 7th September!

CHALLENGE YOURSELF: Do 100 studies focusing on shape of hands from different perspectives.

    ----

Something like this?? I think as hands and feet are a both big subjects we should focus on them separately ^^ and hands are a good place to start

No worries, this group is casual, the assignments details will always be available on the first post of the thread. The deadlines are set to motivate people to get people drawing ;P Try and aim to do this weeks assignment next week (double homework )

Like Hiddles said the best thing about study groups is that the assignments are always available so if you miss one you can always do it again on your own time!
And best of luck with your move!

Seeing as we're doing hands this week, I thought I might dump a few links that might be helpful for everyone, if that's okay.

    • You can set the gesture drawing tool at Lovecastle to hands to help with the 100 poses challenge, though it might be better to use your own hand and a mirror for the tricky poses.

That's all I can think of for now. Hope they helped!

There's also these books by Loomis and Bridgman which are excellent.

Andrew Loomis - Drawing Heads and Hands

George Bridgman - The Book of a Hundred Hands.

This guy's got some excellent stock images for reference and not just for hands.

Howdy, y'all! Um, I haven't finished assignment one yet and have not started #2. Unfortunately, things got scary busy for me here and I've barely had time to breathe. I haven't forgotten the group or dropped out, but I will still be behind things for another week or two ish. And I will be completing all the assignments still.

We're back I'll admit I have been lazy with my drawing while the site has been down =____=

Seeing as while the forum was down there was no access to the resources I'm once again extending assignment 2, while people catch up and such.

    ASSIGNMENT 2 - 23rd September ;D

We might be back, but it's not loading properly. Ah well...

Since the last time I was here, we've moved back to Singapore, so major upheaval. And I left all my sketches back in Sri Lanka by accident, so lessons 1 and 2 I'll have to do over...
