There's drama again going on in the Deviantart forums. Someone did a call out on a guy. But I think this guy deserves the call out. I mean he's rude to artist offering commissions. He reply to one post saying $10/$20 for full body art of decent quality is expensive. He even reply to other commission threads saying I can do better for free.

The call out happen because one artist did a full illustration picture(it was quite okay) for 25 points (which is a few cents if you convert back to cash which you can't). Then he refused to pay the artist after seeing it(he won't pay either if he didn't see the work first) and said that it was expensive.

After the call out happen then he paid the artist quickly. He even made a journal saying he was please with the call out because it gave him more pageviews and he also made up lies as well. And people start to defend him instead.

I can't believe this.

I don't understand why you care about DA drama.

Im not sure about the community but i still can find some killer art over at Deviant Art. Just gotta find a good artist and look at their favorites.

As for what the OP is referring to i dont know of the drama of which you speak. It's probably best that way.

I do have good favorites collection going on there. I found new favorite artist through DA. It's funny though. I'm uncomfortable posting there because the only people that added my work to their favorites had creepy fetish drawings. I had a picture of a mule that was added to "the donkey lovers" group. Personally I figure out it's just full of horny, contemptuous teenagers.
And seriously there is no hope with the forums, because those are basically filled with BORED horny, contemptuous teenagers and those who are deliberately looking for drama and everyone else just stays away.
Honestly a lot of Deviantart is what you make of it to be (like with Star Eater's and Raoul's points I really don't go looking through people who favorite my work and rarely even of those who comment and I'm much happier like that). There's some places where you'll always find drama and if you know to avoid those, then it's pretty breezy.

Though, if I should share my favorites of the "special" kind of DA people, it's those who play like they've married some cartoon character and have their whole gallery filled with faux wedding pictures of them and other images where they are lovey dovey (and ironically these people usually act more polite and nice that most of average DA people) and then there's the... amputated anime girl fetishists.
Which is pretty much the worst fetish I've come across because those people always manage to make it just... worse. It's not just amputation, it's always four limb amputation along with poking fingers on their amputation wounds and worse stuff like that.

As for the OP, like said, the DA forums are not a place where you can really have intelligent discussions (much like Tumblr or anywhere where too many random people get to say what they want) and even for stuff like calling out bad commissioners/commission artists, there's other places.

DA has a nice network of pro artists which you can surf trough favorites. I discovered a few gems like that but it's true you have to avoid all the weirdness like land-mines.

Well I can find killer art on WIPNation and I never saw furry porn or lame contests there so it's win/win (unless you like furry porn.) I also heard there is killer art on CA.org, but there is a bit a drama too. Goes to show that you don't have to put up with DA to find art.

Well, for me personally what I like with DA is the huge variation in everything. Like you mentioned WIPNation and and of course there's more places, like CGhub and so on, but those type of places tend to have very specific type of art, where as in DA you can find cute kawaii sculptures, pro comic art, photography, naivistic design, pro illustrators, 3D etc etc that I'd be more hard pressed to find all together in some other sites.
Sure, you'll find more than couple dungshots while searching for those artists, but that variation combined with convenience (as in I don't have to go through a truckload of bookmarks to see updates) is partly why I still like DA.

From what I've seen, all that's really expected of them is to move threads in the wrong forums or lock spam. Still, it can't be too great for their brain to be required to read all the garbage on those forums.

For the exact same reason why all drawn porn exists. People get off on certain stuff, and they want to see more of it. Sometimes the only way to get it, is to draw it. (Or write it)

I gave up on the DA forums long ago after being flamed for asking for help. But it doesn't matter because I really like the CA forums and find them to be infinitely more helpful.

Don't forget the fetish for feet tickling. I distinctly remember two of the artists I watch doing a commission of it once in a blue moon. Their fans got worried, but their response was basically "I'm not here to make judgements, they paid for it and I didn't have a problem drawing it."
