Applying a bird equals birdman. Obviously!

Been doubting myself a lot lately. So I'm trying to pick myself up. Here's some traditional work, some from bookstudies and some from live-model class. And a little digital sketch.
![]()
Invisible man or clothing study?
![]()
It's an ancient birdcity, what more do you want!
![]()
You've got some really good studies here, just keep pushing yourself further and further...
Keep up with the good job,
Fallen.
Open for commissions......just PM me.
Fallenangel Thank you man. I don't think I could stop if I wanted to!
Warming up the day with a valuestudy!

A little longer study. Experimenting with brushes.
![]()
I kind of rushed it, damn biology making me sleepy

Those last 2 studies are brilliant! Nice metal and nice color palette! I think that the edges in your painting could need a little more work. Try experimenting with harder edges.

Hey thanks for stopping by mate! Yeah you're right and damn is it hard getting that balance! It's something I do from time to time but it's not really sticking.
Did an armorstudy and tried combining edges, looks a little muddy! And I have to join this weeks ChoW. Doesn't get any better than Post-apocalypse Santa. Go take a peek!

Really digging this last armor study. Like the detail from the loose strokes. Keep it coming!
Pundt Thank you mate, good to hear something about that!
WiP on the ChoW illustration!

Elphantstudy I did today. Updating too slow, dayum!
![]()
Gotta push more environments!
![]()
And another one from imagination!
![]()
I kinda like lions. Got The Skillful Huntsman for christmas and I already feel incredibly inspired, so I might spend some time doing quick design ideas for lionmen or something like that!
![]()
Screwed some things up while drawing this so I couldn't be bothered anymore, dayum!
![]()
Really quick sketches which has the purpose of exploring design. It was kind hard to leave doing what I'm used to doing, but I'm getting there. Picked out three to work with so expect to see more tomorrow. I know they're not nice to look at
And an update on Post-apocalypse Santa

I really like those character design thumbnails. You could also try starting with a solid black silhouette and designing the main aspects of the character without thinking about details.
jondawo Thanks! Yeah I haven't really got a grasp of it yet. But I'll be sure to try it out more in the next batch of designs!
Some more refined lionmen coming right up!

More clothing, the application is already going really bad. Might not post!
![]()
Feels like a failure! Going to bed in defeat.
![]()
It's a turtle.
![]()
Having some fun, trying some stuff, enjoy.
![]()
Spent the day with this and had a lot of fun. Learned some new things! Will probably continue with if I have time.

I feel like the lizard(?) guy's head loses some readability because of the light falling on to his eyes from above. According to the light hitting the rest of his body that part of the head should be in shadow. You can try illuminating it from below with that secondary light source or just reflected light. Nice going otherwise though and keep up the character creation stuff, I really enjoy those.
jondawo Ah, I didn't realize that. I figured I could get away with another light source haha! But thanks, you gave me some more ideas and I'll fix it up on the next visit. Thank you mate, and I really enjoy doing them!
Quick dragonsketch as warmup

I like how you used the turtle study and the armor study to create an armored turtle. Talk about applying study to imagination.....nice.
cool stuff, keep posting man!

FROZ3N Haha I figured that it's a good way to apply so I'll stick with it! Thanks for stopping by, I will!
Gotta start tackling my arch-nemesis named architecture and perspective. Very quick study done here.
