Hi guys,
nice ideas so far!
Here's my pencil sketch. Not exactly the thing I wanted to visualize, but let's see how far I can get with this.

I think I'm going to wrap this up since I don't think I'll time in the weekdays next week. Can't wait to see everyone's disgusting creepy creatures!!
I uploaded 2 version, one's more colorful, and one's more dead.... can't decide which one's better? T_T

thaaaat's it Njoo: Exposed muscles and specular shiz ftw ^_^ Also like the 'white salamander' esque head. One thing though: Your style of rendering might a bit too 'cartoony' to make it downright horrifying? It's an odd critique I know.![]()

for me pale+disgusting=skeletons so i tried to draw random bones and make sense of them keeping in mind a birdlike head, so i draw a birdhead rat. I'm gonna add some wings ad a rat tale.

Pixeltuner: I totally know what you're saying, I kinda went a bit too colorful, I was reference a lot of the bloody dissection images and things kinda went a different way then I planned. I uploaded a more "dead" tissue version, you think it'll work better? I can't decide

Njoo thats a tough one but I might have to go with the first one it looks more morbid and frightening the second coloring looks completely dull and it doesnt have that much scare to it either way It's good
njoo: AHH TELL ME WHERE I CAN BUY ONE!! Anyways, I like the bottom one better, but I feel like you can resaturate some of the areas (like the redness of some of intestinal areas) just to bring back the juicy blood effect. Love love love him! He's such a babe.
Well, I'm a derpface and terrible at managing time, but I really enjoy the topic, so here's just a sketch of my baby. Went down the exposed anatomy road coincidentally. lol.
been doodling a bit more and came up with some other monstrosities....
1-I've been playing with the idea that the beast is the gate itself, and it greets the sinners by opening the path to hell...
2-I like this one best based a bit on my previous silhos...
3-Idea was a giant arachnoid with lots of sharp teeth and without a lower jaw...iunno...
4-was doodling, then found this tentacly thingy
5-wanted to try somthing a bit less symmetrical, and turned into something quite ugly looking, if I play with it a bit I may come up with something useable...

elephant´s stroke - Nice work there. Definitely threatening. There's a lot going on right now. Try cleaning it up to define the shape of it more.
penciltipred - Is it tearing it's own skin? Nice work.
Tacijana - Welcome to CA. Nice concept. I can tell it's going to look great.
njoo - That's a gruesome looking thing. Nice work. I like the more desaturated version. Too bad you don't have much time. I'd love it if you made it look even juicier.
goodmanje - I would steer clear of blob-like shapes. The spider-like idea is good. Try to combine other animal-like features into your design. It helps making interesting shapes.
ChaosTheory - I like it. The heads strapped onto it's body is a nice touch. You could have other limbs sticking out like arms and feet to kind of give the impression of it controlling the bodyparts?
Lemmiwinks - It looks like it could be almost cybernetic. Not sure if that's what you're going for. I would try to take a more organic approach to be honest.
Amine - A morbidly good idea.
PITCHBLACK - I think I liked the first concept better.
hekatoncheir - Looks interesting enough for me to want to see the finished piece.
Rob Powell - The idea of the creature being the gate itself has crossed my mind as well but I'm going a different route anyway. Yours could be great. The concept, right now, looks too much like a structure than an actual lifeform, however. Maybe the gate could be at it's belly?
Pixeltuner - Lot's of speculars. Lots'o juice. I like the detail on the neck and it's pale maggot-like back.
Okay, here are my ideas so far. I think I'm going to work more on the quad.
I wanted the other one to look otherworldy, or interdimensional but it ended up looking like a humanoid mutant.

been a while... I'm outa practice from too much 9-5...ugh
The word ‘anarchy’ comes from the ancient Greek αναρχία in which αν meant ‘without’ and αρχία meant first a military ‘leader’ and then ‘ruler’. Anarchist society is one ‘without rulers’: a classless, non-hierarchical society.

I've always wanted to try to have a go at COW...
So here goes. I kind of like the drooly-cuddly creature, but it's too cute. It would literaly greet you with a sticky-warty tongue, bad breath and the occasional chewing. Then I had this big trunk-animal, but I have no idea what to do with the body, working on it.
Both of them are going to be covered in goo and have several icky-stuff attached though.
Great creatures people have come up with! Looking forward to see them all finished. =)
You think the mechanical parts don't fit the brief?
Well, I was thinking about things which seemed unsettling to me and tried to compose a creature out of them. Unfortunately, it doesn't look as scary as it is supposed to due to my technical limits.![]()
Thanks a lot for your critique!
Here's my WIP. I'm very unhappy with the middle head...

Didn't have much time to work on it yet but I had been throwing a few ideas around, and came up with this sketch. The skulls on the tail are rattles he uses to open the gate. The hole in his chest contains a head with its eyes and mouth sewn shut, haven't found a good way to show it yet but i'm sure once I start painting something will come up. Also there are screaming mouths and eyeballs on the body.
I'm really digging where all of these concepts are going especially Njoo's and Christoffer's.
Christoffer, that's exactly what I was thinkingI'll add other part too. Thanks!
Update![]()
Those are some nasty creatures everyone!
Here is a thumb from me. Some kind of double headed giant caterpillar.
Heheh, whoever thought of this topic: Thank you from the bottom of my disturbed stomach.
I'm completely impressed by everyone's imagination.
I brought the image as far as I can. Hate the values thou. I still have to write a description in an understandable English and draw additional sketches to better explain the greeter's function and structure.
Awesome work guys!...here's a WIP shot...let me know what you think.
Terrifying. I'm amazed at the level of creativity and talent present. Personally I don't think I'll be finished in time, or up to the quality of the pieces present. But it was a fun concept to play with. Still lots to do.
gruesome. here's my wip.

Haven´t figured out the feet yet. I hope I will finish this in time!
