I don't suppose offers to shoot him went down well.

Why do fairies/kids have to be sexy? I have great delight in a photo of one of my sons looking terribly grubby from 6 years ago. Parents need to grow up.

That has something to do with the quality of the gene pool, to make sure the human race survives...

Why not just get the little girls a Brian Froud book?, a few years she´ll have a pretty and nostalgic feeling about fairies rather than an embarassing childhood souvenir in the back of her closet. It will probably be cheaper too.

And dear god, I´m seriously not comfortable with the way Taylor is looking at me...

I'm afraid it's not the guy to blame, if he's copying that stuff from pictures provided by clients (which I'm fairyly sure he does).
or maybe overhearing a couple of 12 years old grlz chatting casually stabbed my faith in humanity too brutally recently, idk.

    Photo Fantasy Art

Thanks everyone for your reply appreciate it look like some good advices there I am no artist what so ever and I can tell you are all Professional serious Artists by your reactions to my thread and I am sure you all know what's good art or bad.

I would say those Fantasy photo manipulations are the things nowadays I speak as a parent myself children and parents alike like those sort of fan art for their kids, children like fantasies of any sort the art might be bad but the concept of it is where children likes to be in fantasy and of course they love to see a photo of themselves dressing in fantasy clothes.

I still would like to learn personalized photo manipulation for fantasy art fairies and such I take on board about the bad manipulation and how they achieved their results for I would like to delivery a good photo manipulations. I have download some good fairy dresses and are learning how to paint them myself as professionally as I can. I shall check out digital artist tutorial on painting dresses from scratch using Photoshop.

well Helen, perhaps you should start looking at Brian Froud's artwork?

And you know there really is no way around it - you might have to learn to actually draw and paint, because otherwise there's only this sort of horrid kitschy paintover/photomanip stuff that just burn the eyes!

Can't recommend Frouds work enough. Especially the timeless "Faeries"

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faeries

There are photo-realistic images of girls depicted as Faeries which are
done in a hauntingly beautiful, yet innocent way. Do look it up. It's
a great book for anyone remotely interested in fantasy art.

And bear in mind almost half of 'Faeries' is illustrated by Alan Lee, who also created concept art for 'The Lord of the Rings'. Lees delicate pencil work and watercolours are a perfect compliment to Brian's work. 'Faeries' is often remembered as Froud's, but both Lee and Froud's wife Wendy contributed.

Yes you are right Aly, I meant to include that in my post.

In fact, my favourite illustrations in the book are Lee's, such as the
    Pookah.

Reading the site it says the parents choose their favorite come-hither pose from his site and send him a picture of their baby so the blame lies with everyone. Plus, this is the worst thing on earth.

I probably shouldn't say this, helen100, but I will, because I lack tact. What you're aiming for is cookie-cutter work. If you've found the sites to use as an inexperienced amateur, the bubble has burst, and savvy parents can do this on their own at home. Don't waste your time on shortcuts. Learn an original skill.

Make or hire the costumes and photograph children, or learn how to draw/paint so that what you produce is original and unique. What you have found is a techno version of those old books where you cut out the costumes and dress up paper dolls.

    Don't waste your time...

    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.

"Escape Through the Crack" omg that title, is it real
might explain weird facial expressions of kids on his stunning masterpieces

needless to say I'm preordering already, cuz you know, his succuss depends on it too.

    from his fb:
    "I am a children's audio/video eBook writer/illustrator/publisher and fantasy portrait sketch artist."
he forgot to add "art director", "art business owner" and "creative entrepreneur" on that list imo

    GHAH!
"Everything must serve the idea. The means used to convey the idea should be the simplest and clear. Just what is required. No extra images. To me this is a universal principle of art. Saying as much as possible with a minimum of means."
