    Fantasy Art & Fairies how

    Hello Everyone,

I am learning digital painting and I'm interested in fantasy photo art. I would like to produce similar fantasy photo arts like please see link below.

    http://www.images-n-stuff.com/Fairie...yPhotoArt.html

My main questions are the fairy dresses and wings. Did they use a software? or some sort of brushes for the dresses and wings? How did they get those results? I've google but just could not find anything about the fairy dresses.

I have Photoshop CS5-1 and Corel Painter 11.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    helen

In my humble opinion, these are horrible, in a not so pleasant sense. I suggest you ask these questions to someone who is clueless about painting...

there has to be a "how to paint a fairy dress in photoshop" tutorial out there... from all the crap ive seen on youtube called tutorials, i think its pretty save to asume this topic is covered aswell.

anyway the others are right... these pictures are garish.

    WHY.

Anyway, those are just bad photomanips... Including cheesy standard Photoshop sparkle brushes, good god.

The dresses and wings look like not-very-good painting with any old standard Photoshop brush, gradients, and a lot of bad use of the smudge tool. Nothing particularly fancy going on there.

Seriously, why would anyone want to emulate this... Do yourself a favor and aim a little higher.

You know, I can *kinda* understand why this was made. Girls likes fairies and hey, give the kid a pic that makes them relive the world.

But it fails so bad (not just the obvious bad photo-retouching and paintover) but...dude fucking buy your kid a fairy costume!

It's like your kid wants to go to the swimming pool and instead of getting that cheap plastic/blow up thing you put in the backyard as a middleground- you give them a picture of a swimming pool.

Your kid wants to be a fairy, not too hard to get a dress and let them imagine being one for a bit. Take a pic and if you can find a cool background and give it to them as an additional bonus - it's all good.

    But this?

Somehow I suspect it's more for the parents than the kids... Like every other situation where parents try to coerce their kids into cute photo-ops.

Edit: Elwell, why did you make me click that link... WTF boudoir glamour photos of toddlers!? With makeup!?! SO MANY LEVELS OF WRONG.

Edit2: oh dear god they added makeup and pierced ears to a baby... My brain hurts...

And is it just me, or is their modus operandi to basically slap the exact same Barbie face on everyone regardless of what they originally looked like?

like almost every magazine out there... its just more obvious in these examples, but procedure and goal are the same. too bad people are raised to think to aim for that... we only notice how far were off if terrible things like jenna rose happen...

Because looking human is just so ugly, we have to teach kids to not be satisfied with anything normal.

I swear we need a good plague to drop the world population by about 40%. Maybe more in America, like 70%.

    "Like a doll's eyes..."
"Contrary to the belief of the layman, the essential of art is not to imitate nature, but under the guise of imitation to stir up excitement with pure plastic elements: measurements, directions, ornaments, lights, values, colors, substances, divided and organized according to the injunctions of natural laws. While so occupied, the artist never ceases to be subservient to nature, but instead of imitating the incidents in a paltry way, he imitates the laws."-Andre Lhote

There was an infamous site of that sort of thing that used to be floating around, I think it was even linked here, but when I went searching for it I found that it's actually absolutely standard in the kiddie pageant world. Just google pageant retouching or especially glitz retouching and you'll be flabbergasted.

Don't listen to them, Helen100. They're just haters. Here, this should help you out.

    My Sketchbook

And then God said, "Let us make man in our likeness and our image. Let us make him ridiculously hard to draw so that poor artists everywhere will have to spend 10,000+ hours failing repeatedly before they can begin to capture the form and likeness onto a two-dimensional surface." And there was man. And it was good. And artists everywhere lost their minds.
