Very cool stuff, mate! And you've put up so much work in such a short amount of time; I'm envious of your prolificness (word? probably not). I'll definitely be coming by to check on this one more often.

damn, hey your characters are a ton better now men, try much more challenging poses now that you are confident.
Sup Kevin, the environments are really interesting man I think they can go to very cool places in the future keep with that. I really think you need to do more studies though, theyre easy to put off but your characters could benefit so much from them. Your designs are super rad but the characters are stuck in the same plane where our eye level is about chest height and we're looking from far away. Generally we see a person about eye level and usually were at a distance that they are more effected by perspective. Just look at figures from different angles and perspectives and see if you find anything interesting, gesture drawing from some hipster tumblr or whatever would be good just to start, dont rush take time you need but not much more than like 10-15 mins you want to get a feel for other perspectives and angles, takes a while.. Your view is good for showing designs clearly but your a funky dude and I think you should start messing with it more.![]()
That character sketch of the girl is looking pretty sweet.
Cool new updates man. Some interesting ideas/angles you're exploring with those illustrations on the previous page.
Cheers mate
Very nice designs in these characters mate. They need some more roundness to appear more 3d but somehow they look cool. keep up the good work!!

Great sketchbook! Not sure if you are aiming for realistic proportions in your characters, but if you are, the female characters in particular have legs that are often too long for regular human beings.
liberty-thanks and i am on top of it!
0000-thanks and i will!
tfsean-great advice man, i have been wanting to try new angles and stuff so i will next!
v3t-thanks

nice charactar designs- really interesting shapes and good poses, the values though seem to be only indicative of different materials, maybe try to accentuate the form a bit more.
keep updating!

hey kevin! lovely character designs. i think the strong angles tend to give your character poses a bit of a stiff look-- try making the angles less apparent (organic/curved slightly) when you go to the next step of rendering them. i think that will help loosen up their posture a bit. other than that, keep it up!![]()

Been meaning to check out your sketchbook forever man, sorry it's taken so long.
Looking good so far, you're really powering along. Really nice pencils, and good on you for tackling environments, they're so tough lol.
1 crit, your characters, although well designed and drawn, seem a little flat. It's most noticeable in the chest. It just looks as if they're flat shapes, which have been shaded, rather than forms which exist in three dimensions. I just started working on this more myself, but it really helps to try and visualise everything you draw, whether from reference or from your head, in 3D, and constantly think about what the form is doing. One phrase which really helps me (I seem to just repeat it in my head while working) is "A change in form is a change in value". Basically all it means is that everytime you make something darker, you're turning it away from the light. Pretty obvious I guess, but reminding yourself of that constantly, and being much more conscious of every mark you make can really help.
Sorry, I'm rambling, I hope that helps though. You're pushing hard, and doing great. Keep it coming man!
EDIT: Lol timing - must have been writing that as you were posting. The character in that last post looks cool. Same sorta stuff still applies, but yeah, looks cool. Nice work man.
Wowww! This is totally fantastic! I really love your rendering style. It's among my favorites on CA! Reminds me of Wes9000's rendering style, especially the pencil stuff! I really admire the cross-hatched style of pencil rendering that you do. It's amazing how well it seems to blend while also have a hatched quality. I am going to try to work more at drawing in this style, because it really is my favorite! Do you keep your pencils pretty sharp when doing this style, or do you wear down an edge? I find it hard to get such fine hatchmarks without a sharp pencil, but it's also hard to control sometimes and if you make one mark too strong, it's almost impossible to erase!
Your digital painting stuff is excellent as well! I love the portrait style all around. Interesting poses, too, on your figures! It's cool to see some landscapes mixed in with all of the figures. I'm wanting to start in on environments and landscapes soon, but I'm dreading the first few pieces as I've literally never tried that subject matter before. The most recent digi-paintings of the alien creatures are so fantastic. Really creative and I love the textures you're getting.
Well I feel sufficiently inspired/humbled! Thanks for your awesome work!
sweet stuff Kevin lovin the characters![]()

Hey man, nice updates. You do so many character designs, makes me feel really lazyreally like that thumb with the castle and the giant trees. I think maybe it'd help to establish the ground plane a bit better in your environment thumbs, that way you can kind of draw things up out of the ground, and it all feels a bit more solid.
jakeb-thanks man been wondering if you were ever gonna stop by :b anyways thanks for the advice man! when i render in color i usually block in with flat colors so that might be what you are seeing? anyways il try and not make it a habit or let it leak through to finished work. thanks for checking out my sb, hope to hear more from you!
hendecagoner-lol im very flattered that you like my work! and yeah i basically cross hatch with a .5 mechanical pencil, i dont use regular pencils except for when i need more coverage or darker tones. anyways thanks for checking out my sb :b
freshfool-thank you, my fave subject matter :b
markomarkovic-thanks man, ill try
jmob-haha no i am too, love pencil so much more than any other medium...hmm well oils are up there too :b
kvetch-thanks, and yeah im still horrible with enviro stuff so ill keep an eye on that sort of stuff!
so i have been doing a lot of sketches lately and decided to go back and finish some stuff, heres one of the characters i did. went back and rendered it out and fixed some stuff. probably as finished as it will ever get. maybe some very small updates and fixes ill do to it later :b some more finished stuff to come!

Hi, nice characters! Some parts seem to be distorted/skewed. Propably by using freetransform? Also the chars look abit like cutted out, u can change that by bluring the outer edges where things are farther away or make them brighter/darker where the form turns away.
Keep up the good work.

Wow!! Intense!!!!!!!!!!! Not much to comment on just keep bringing the awesomenessman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
that is a sweet ass design man and the rendering is really well done.
one thing that really sticks out is that the highlight is a bit too hot in my opinion-maybe lower the value of the background or lower the value of the highlight as it sucks a little bit of the contrast in the face area.
