I really like how you finish off even the little things to make em look like finished paintins. That good style

Haven't been here in a while, first off, I love the rendering on the second piece in 257, has that kind of 3d model vibe, also that last piece and the studies I've seen are all looking really solid too, guess just keep it up man

Hey man Stuff is edgy as always, really like that one on #287. Giving a true crit though, the abstract nature of the context in which your figures are placed mean your lighting cant really be "wrong" but it could be more right. I would do some studies of figures in dark or abstract environments. I just think if you worked on your lighting it would help these out alot yup... I dont have to be right but I wont to leave some kind of constructive thought in this comment for you

You and I will celebrate the next summer night in heaven.
Drinks and wine. I like the transformed confusion turning
to an inappropriate delusion. Your weird colors and experimenting
time is turning to a marvel in front of a twisted frozen up mind.
You have added the chick with the fixed up light, and you
are keeping us updated and surprised just as salami
goes sliced through wet carbon hydrated knives.
Your new way of lighting and shading is forcing
the gigantic sea-cow to mow backwards.
Your drawings way beyond great, much better
than before, something excellent, the scanner
cannot handle the greatness. I love the attitude
and the way you are heading. Bright light
all around, fresh salmon specialty at Friday night.

I love the more finished drawings on post #300... really cool concept and rendering. It would be really cool to see some full compositions... maybe with a few figures in an environment?

    Nice work!

    @LtPlissken like...seriously..what.the.fuck. LMAO

Liking your recent change in composition in the creature Kevin, I believe Flaskpost is right about the pose being stiff, but your current styling would suit a design sheet for max height to model from perhaps. I also agree with what you say about the right hand, I can imagine how you will adjust it so it's all cool looking forward to more

LOVE your rendering! Great sketchbook you have here! For crits all I can think is what some people have mentioned before, that some of the earlier pieces the proportions are a little off ( i think torsos are sometimes too short? ) but I nearly didn't notice cuz your rendering just blew me away! Keep posting!

Movement is a hard thing to describe when it's not something you're used to drawing. I couldn't get it, either, not at first. Basically movement is when it looks like your character is -- not quite realistic, you can have movement without being realistic, but it's when the figure looks like it's in the middle of something. That is, when figures are stiff, they look frozen in place, like they're deliberately holding a pose, but when a figure has a good sense of movement it looks like they got caught in the middle of something. Does that make sense?

The only advice I've heard for movement is to do quick gestures to try and describe the action rather than draw what appears to be there.

    flaskpost-thanks for the advice
ltplissken-haha dood i like how you imbed a message into a longer sort of poem story? its great!
lakai-thanks and as for the missing muscle, there are a lot more beside the one you pointed out :b
kadintgoldenberg-yeah that is a long shot right now since im horrible with those sort of illustrations :/ maybe one day thoguh!
    luthertaylor-lol man leave plissken alone!
    leklek-haha will do!
anivy-thanks and yeah my proportions are off sometimes cuz i wont always pay attention too it especially in my older work
    jecelin69-thanks!
umbravita-im gonna make this a little chunky since so many people bring it up. i know what movement is, i just dont agree with having to draw all your character designs jumping or mid run or something? im trying to get a designs across and i dont think their pose really contributes to the costume or design. maybe if i want to show personality or if its an illustration i will try and add in some movement. i mean i see pro's design characters that are just standing their all the time and it doesn't take away from design at all, at least in my opinion. but thanks for the advice!
marcoferrigno-thanks and i absolutely love when people compare my work to silent hill and barlowe is a new one but i love his work to death too!

so here i have some black and white sketchy thing for you guys

I think -- and take this with a grain of salt because I'm far from an expert -- but I don't think movement is entirely about poses. Even someone just standing there can have movement. When someone stands on the spot they're making constant, unconscious adjustments to keep themselves standing, they're breathing, they might shuffle a bit. Put someone standing next to a statue and you notice immediately that the statue has no movement at all.

I think that's the difference between a figure having movement and appearing stiff. Even someone standing there can still have that movement, but if it looks stiff, it's more like the statue. It's in how the figure stands, where their centre of gravity is, how they might be leaning. It's not necessary for design, no, at least not as far as I know. I think a design having a bit of movement can add character to the design, but I'm not a designer. Still, I think it's something useful to practice. At the end of the day though that's for you to decide, do what you like if you think it's the best thing to do, I don't really know anything.

I'm really digging the cleanness of your designs. The only crit I have is that some of your details look like they are "drawn on" from the harsh outlines they have.

an idea for a design...i might do something else with the helmet design but ill just scrap this overall idea :b

nice study, really like the skin tones, although the ear looks way too big (unless her ears are actually like that o.o) and the top left hand corner of her forehead looks like it's protruding rather than receding.
