Hey Kevin, thanks for the comment over at my sketchbook from ages ago.
Your neat way of coloring and rendering your drawings really captured me but your characters remain a little stiff. Not sure how that happens and why, perhaps quick gestures before proportioning and laying in the details will help.
Keep on rockin'!
dimi-thanks a lot!
kerah-thanks and yes i know about the stiffness in my characters i will fix it soon
so i had this sketch up a couple days ago but i took it down cuz i was going to try and do more with it...but no breakthroughs here :b note the ultra realism i used in their faces -_- and second thing are some enviro speed paintings

I actually quite like the look of this latest paintings. Their expressions look pretty crazy yet so simple and looks like it could potentially be quite atmospheric. Not so sure what the red lines are doing but you should def do more work on it see where u can take it whilst keeping the mood you have established
like your imagination
Wow you have done alot since i last been here! Just remember to keep pushing those foundations along with all the other cool stuff you are doing!Rendering is looking tight! I like the guns and swords you did on the other page

I gotta say this: you know your shit. For starters those pencil drawings on the first page are just kickass. Take this for example:![]()
Oh man I just love this piece. Your use of tones is superb and you manage to tell a story with so little. I assume no ref was used ? Keep pushing man !

joe777k7-thanks a lot man!

haha it's like i'm trolled into subscribing to your sketchbook! your stuff is amazing!!
I have to ask, what is your process for when you do a study like this?
i'm currently modelling at an atelier and already it has affected how I would now go about doing studies when I do them for accuracy, block in with simple lines, draw the line of the shadow area so the figure is half tone and shadow tone, and slowly add in detail once measurements are correct. However because I am modelling I can't shadow someone from scratch and I miss out on a process.
anyway man keep it up with the work!subscribed!

I love your sketchbook!! You are really good with anatomy ^^
Hello there Kevin! Nice stuff you got here specially the pencils. And you use bold brush on your digis like a boss. Wish I could just do that. Thanks a lot for dropping by on my sketchbook btw. cheers!
I'll definitely be watching your progress, keep up the great work!
Some very impressive work here, I especially like the works from imagination, thanks for commenting in my sketchbook

I really like it when you cross-hatch. Super angular. It looks like the forms were cut into planes. It's awesome.
Great sketchbook! I especially like your pencil stuffI’ll definitely be checking back to see your progress!
Hey! I'd hate to just rehash more compliments on the pencil stuff, which is great, so I'll just drop a crit for the recent paints. Be careful about over burning your darks, go deep put try to use those true blacks in just a few areas for detail. Obviously, you could throw this out the window on a pure black and white piece, but I think with the color, it tends to limit you range a bit. Anyways, keep it poppin'.
luthertaylore-thanks and glad to here you are subscribed! for studies like that i usually do a quick out line and fill it in with a solid color and sometimes if it is a heavily lighted image i will block in the solids for the shadows as well
blackdiamond-thanks you so much!
rei9-thanks!
blackswan-thanks!
calebbrown-thanks and yes i absolutely love cross hatching!
sophiew-thanks and hope you do come back for a look!
cklamb-thank you for the crit! i did notice i do have a tendency to murder things out with solid black, ill try and fix that!
so first thingy is a study and the last two are some sketches

those are nice studies! @__@ teach me lol xD
you're getting so much better ... i really like the way you're able to render no matter if it's pencil or digital.
keep rocking, dude![]()

hey Kevin Thanks for getting back to me! yeah I'm gonna give the process a try! I have far too many ways of going about doing a study that sometimes it feels like I'm just copying rather than learning. Lately I have been working with opaque values rather than before working with the opacity and flow jitter on. Blocking in shapes I seem to be learning better than I had been before!
anyway lovely updates man! I hope you can take feedback without feeling insulted by a lower skill giving his opinions, I'm aware it's just a sketch so probably shouldn't look into it too much but the creature
composition wise, it feels a bit stiff with the arms swirling all around up top but the legs just stationary there. If you was to keep the legs stationary I would probably relax the tentacles more so they flow downwards around his sides. if the tentacles stay the way they are then I would probably have the creature in a prone stance. like legs bent wide in a longer stance or something. anyway that's my two cents in lol. looking forward to more man![]()

You have some fantastic pencil skills!!! So light and attentive yet detailed and contrasting. The precision is inspiring...
And what's interesting is how well the results are of your finished pieces in digital, especially of humans. They're so crisp and yet they don't look flat what-so-ever. I love the 3D goodyness to all of your work, please more finished work!
Interesting updates here on this page. I like the environments. The first thing that jumps to my mind to tell you is that you should maybe focus on getting a more overall worked look on your stuff.
if you have only the head of the monster rendered when you boss comes in at one pm to check what youve done since 9 o clock, they wanna see more than just a well rendered head. They want to
see something that give em the idea how the monster will look overall. This was one of the most useful pieces of advice I got myself and it sure helped me in my jobs. So keep thinking with a boss in mind.
Be your own boss. And keep it up.

Nice updates like your creature designs ;D
I don't know why but every time I see female sketches , I think "the pose is to stretched"
I am searching for a "Mentor" who will give me some hint's and an ass-kick when I get lazy

Hey man, good to see you're getting more into painting, it's improving as well, so that's great! The only thing is, well I mean bbwolf already said it, try to push this stuff man, bringing somethings to finish really is not only great for confidence, but skill. Keep it up though, you're doing great.![]()

Hey!
I agree with the above posts! Just keep pushing it and remember to take your time. Getting the technique down and the overall design down in the important thing, not speed. Finishing designs will also start to teach you alot of patience and build up your speed. Remember to keep at anatomy as well. Keep going!!![]()
Love the variety of designs and ideas you have going on here! One thing I noticed, though, is that a lot of your figures/creatures tend to have really stiff poses. If you're going to go to the trouble of making a cool outfit or design to showcase their personality, why not step it up even further and think about how to choose a dynamic pose that'll also show something about the character? Maybe doing some more gesture drawing would help you loosen up with your poses a little!
kaikaisushi- haha thanks :b
braineater-thank you,and yeah i love rendering!
ltplissken-haha yeah i think ima probably push out a bunch of these type of sketches
luthertaylor-thanks and hey im willing to hear out anyone...doesnt take a pro to see if somethings is wrong. and i definitely agree with what you said, the body was a quick 5 minute thing so i didnt put to much into whether it looked awkward or not but i will make sure to avoid it next time!
kateyparr-thanks! yeah i really like doing characters a lot so i try and really excel with it
bbwolf-thanks and yeah most of the stuff in here are sketches that i decided not to continue and most are just over an hours work. but i do want to try and get quicker so i can meet deadlines with more ease.
jir-thanks and i think maybe i make em too thin? its a habit :b
psychobuddy-thanks, i have been using colors a lot more lately! and yeah it would be nice to have som more final too but most of the stuff i start i dont finish because the desing feels to generic to me...but maybe ill try and push some further anyways
joe777k7-thanks and will do!
amarok-thanks and yeah that is the crit i get the most...i just feel like if i try and make a design and i have the figure doing something then objects will interfere with the design and get in the way?
jzhang-haha yes!! hesher! glad someone noticed! :b
some studies. with the studies i tried to go for speed so most are just over 30 minutes, the dress one was probably the quickest. the thing with speed, at least for me, is that it really makes getting resemblance down a lot harder. i think i gotta keep working at it :b]
