Angry Steet Thug Turned Fine Artist?

is anyone else sick of street thugs turning rappers. well i just read about a street thug turning fine artist. he's being called the tupac of modern art. no joke. apparently he's a video artist who's work has been picked up and distributed internationally at furniture retail chains. check out his ridiculous website www.elliotgrey.com - is anyone else tired of image over riding content?

I don't knowwhat you mean by image overiding content, but that site is really ridiculous. I didnt get to see for colours grey but it sounds like a gimmick. on a side note that guy is no street thug...I should know I am one!

'flamer' tends to register in my brain rather then 'blazing' after being attacked by that much rainbow. Yeesh.
"They were born, they grew up in the gutters, they went to work at twelve, they passed through a brief blossoming period of beauty and sexual desire, they married at twenty, they were middle-aged at thirty, they died, for the most part, at sixty. Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer, and, above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds."

Look at me...I am e-thug posterboy for underwear...I make my art for your TV.

    *yawn*

I mean...more power to him if he has something interesting to do with a new format...but what's with all the "sexy bad boy" imagery...bah.

i'm glad to hear that this guy aggravates you as much as he aggravates me. but the story gets better! i found another article on this fagtard in ART magazine that says he was shot and spent time in jail. perhaps we should lock him up again before he does further damge to the video art medium.

i actually really liked that website, it was pretty...but the "artist" pissed me off
"The function of art is to stop us and take us out of our skin,
Unveiling the spirit's pure nakedness without beginning or end.
These dialogues of Maker and Seer weave together matter with soul,

Elliot Grey was born July 5, 1976. Throughout his upbringing and studies, Grey was heavily exposed to painting, the video medium and hip-hop culture; contrasting influences that became apparent in his multi-dimensional work and character.
Now who the hell said that hip hop is the opposite of art? Isn't music considered a form of art? Aren't people who make music considered artists?

    Pshh!

    Hip hop is art...

The way Jenna Jameson is an artist as compared to Mel Gibson?

His Calvin Klein-esque imagery from the start kind of set off alarms for me. Seems too, I don't know, fake.

don't we have better things to do than harp on others who might be fake or stupid or just trying something?

really, who freaking cares? I might not care for what he's doing, but that's no reason to make a thread about it...he's not hurting anybody.
....and if it's about who he is, as opposed to what he's doing....you realize that there are people out there killing eachother in our names right?

why so much attention to something so petty?

this is the internet man. This what people on the internet do. Seriously. The guys a total gimmick why not poke a bit of fun at him for that. I mean come on he was asking for it, with the whole ghetto thug atitude crossed with the calvin klien underwear model thing. Not likely that he will ever find out about it unless he searches for himself on the net... and if you do that regularly its gunna be a fuckin sign.

I know what you mean El Coro, being a guy that use to be a former gang member (stupid choice in my life) I can see that this guy cares more about his looks on the website then about his art contents. Using the whole Tupac/50 cent thing to attract attention is completely stupid, he's should be lucky to still be alive unlike some of my past friends. Whatever his past is, I'm just glad that people can make a right decision....but your enemies will never forget the past.

Lol Aerythes your a genius, that would be a nice story for a comic book (maybe I'll start taking some notes down on this one). Actually that same situtation did happen to me during my high school year, I learn now to becareful of who you trust, even if they did seem friendly at first, but I had to learn that the hard way with a bloody t-shirt, ok seems like i'm hijacking the thread I'll stop now and I'll leave it at that.

I took a glance at his Journal, and for an ex-street thug he has really nice grammer and spelling. I was expecting "my bois be tripin on yo face bitch." And it was not. Even before entering this thread and seeing the title of this thread being Street Thug Turned Fine Artist? I thought, now why the hell would someone fake that?
