Great update dude, i like the Bill O'Brian portrait and creature concept in colors too. The skull you did in pencils looks cool!
Great to see you finished the Shaman too, i like this character
Just a small crit, in the Cernunnos image i think you could put some darker values in the foliage in the foreground, maybe this piece will be more stronger.
5 stars!!!
Cheers!
Great update, very cool stuff. 5 stars!!!
Takk for inspirasjonen! *sette seg ned og begynne å tegne*
Hello!
Nice anatomy sketches! I like also your fast enviroments, very expressive.
Keep up the good work mate

Neeeat digitals. Sweet light in them. But you have to try and put some colder colours in them, if you get some colder tones in there you'll your warm colours to pop out even further. Right now they're abit monochrome with only red-yellowish tones.
keep on posting
.peace
Wow, big update.![]()
I dig the samurai that was the first one, the alien sumo wrestler and the digi tree guy (the creature concept)
Nice to see you being so productive, seems I really have to get up the tempo myself, hehe.
I have to say that colourwise you seem to struggle with some of the same that I have. It might be intentional, but some of your latest looks a bit muddy to me compared to some of your earlier stuff. Push those colours!![]()

Right... thought I'd try to revive my SBHehe... sorry it's been so long!
I did this gun sheet.. wanted to try out some new shit (thank you Coro!)... more segmented way of working, I guess, but it works well for this kinda designs... picked up the pipeline from Coro, like you might have guessed.. I tried not to get into his design sensibilities, though, and make this thing my own... hehe... so... this was the result... I'm posting thumbs, colorpass, workup and the final sheet.. The feel of the gun turned out mad different from the refinement pass, but I think it was to the better... I felt I got a better sense of the decisions I make by chopping the method into these very marked steps!
Hurricane: If you see this, bro; Thanks for the crits on the thumbs and the "art direction"!Definately made this thing turn out for the better!!
Hope you like!!

I really like it when people keep using the same sketchbook for a long time. Then it's possible to look at the beginning and see the steady improvement from there. I have to say, I'm liking what I see.
Ohh! cool guns! very nice job on the textures!!!
Enjoy doing them?
great stuff man!!
a lot of strong designs and characters.
the two biggest flaws i see is that all of your characters are leaning too much. Off-centre if you may.
..and that you need to work on your anatomy even more. There is something awkward about your bodies, i can't really put my finger on it. I think you don't draw the rythm of the contours properly. Almost like you're replacing the actual contour with something made up and it ends up looking odd.
other than that, man you're taking major strides. A lot more tidy and better values.
cheers and keep on rocking bro!

Hei! har snikki i SB'n din lenge nå, har bare ikke turt å reply'e
Digger alt du har gjort!
Im suprised aswell, norway is slowly CONQUERING CA..
(i wish)![]()
D-Man. It's been quite a while since I stopped by your book, and I have to say your stuff is looking amazing; so much better than anything I'd seen you do.
The gun sheets are really strong, though the handle on the 3/4 view is out of perspective with the rest of it.
The anatomy studies look unfinished - I know you can copy the rendering better than that... concentrate on creating smooth transitions from light to shadow.
Rev. Pestilence and your medusa are AWESOME but in the other digitals I'm seeing a little bit of a relapse into SOFT painting. don't forget to make a couple edges REALLY sharp to differentiate the subjects.
peace, dude.
hey man getting better and betterlike the gun design. Don't think there's that much difference from refinement to finished more like the refinement was how the gun looked when it was new and the final when it been used for a long time.
I think you choose the right thumb to continue my favourite anyway my second fav. was the last gun, but it was to plain to be fun so to speak. I liked those the most cause they seemed to be the ones who would work the best when used... ergonomically and such. Liked the change you did from muffler (or whatever it's named) to silencer.
My sketchbook flawed to the max page 5
Ps:Hope you understand my English.
Remember my advices taste best with a grain of salt.
Hey man thanks for coming out with us to six feet under. I was great meeting you. My name is Cory, was the guy with ong hair and copic markers.
good seeing ya and I hope your trip was entertaining.
awesome progress man!....I saw your last page, then I went to your first one and your progress is amazing...props!
Hey Fredrik, long time. Collt stuff, like the gun design. Really tight.
So what's happening other than updating tour sb? How's it going with the workshop the 26th?
Take care man.
Hey man I had to stop by and say how great you did on that gun, I totally at first thought it was a low poly model you had textured and normal mapped...
Looks really awesome, love the grunge!
great gun designs! there is a slight perspective issue with the last gun orthos. with the one that is 3/4 view, the diagonal part that dips down above the front handhold/clip area (i have no clue how guns work =P) with the three grooves on it - i think you need to push the three grooves forward .
ughhh i hope you understood what i meant ^^

I got a minute
Gun design and overall designs look interesting and fun to
me, the thing I think you could focus is dynamics and foreshortening
I would suggest drawing form the comics that you might have laying
around and try to pick apart why the author places the hand on this
or that way, or why the legs look this or that way,
and just keep doing the studies, but NEVER stop doing the imagination
stuff, I think you have a good mind to design monsters and weapons,
keep developing your fantasy world, other wise drawing becomes a chore,
believe me I know![]()
Very nice guns there!
Great work, and something different.Really got up a notch there.

They're not muddy either.![]()
Did you look at the church ruins stuff? Hehe...

Augmenton: Hehe... I've nearly started up a new one a couple of times, but I decided to stick with it... Glad you like man!
fooxoo: Thanks, Edite! Yeah! I enjoy doing 'em a lot actually... I figured they'd be handy to have in my skillset, but I found out that gundesigns were fun to do! There are more coming up! Just gotta finalize 'em... I do this stuff in between work shit... heh...
Hurricane: Thanks for dropping by, man! I've started to work more on my anatomy again, so appreciate the kick in the ass!I'm trying to pay attention to my problem areas! Glad you like my stuff though! Hope you guys make it over in may!! And happy birthday!!
Slash: Hahaha! Just had one of those moments of lucidity... they're few and far between in Lok Inc. as we both know, but they do happen!I saw you put up those futuristic soldier designs on your webpage! Good stuff man! They're tight! (FSM??)
Espenboi: Yo! Fett at du stikker nesa inn herHaha... I hope we don't conquer all of CA... glad for the diversity, but I'm happy to see more Norwegian artists on here as well!
Lake: Thanks man! Been a while, yeah! Cool that you're diggin' on the recent stuff! I'll keep you're crit in mind for sure! (BTW... dude... the linky to your sketchbook doesn't work! Hit me with it if there's a new one, so I can drop by!)
Mindflaw: Yo! Yeah... the shape of the thing didn't change all that much, but the overall appearance did.. it's for a personal project I play with when I'm off work... hehe.. So it had to look real weathered and shit
Flipnastywebby: Cory! thanks for dropping by man! It was awesome to meet ya'll, and I'm still bummed that I couldn't hang around longer... shoulda just taken the rental on my own! Hope I can make it over to ATL another time as well! I'll join you guys for more sketching for sure! Say hi to the crew next time you meet up!
Saurus: Glad you like! Appreciate you dropping by!
Pencilator: Perre!! Too long man! Glad you like the gundesign! The meet is going well... you can check out some details online... www.creativenorway.com... I'm gonna have to holler at ya on MSN and kick your ass into coming!
Arrowhead: Thanks! I was kinda happy with that one, so cool that you like! Even though the handle is a bit off, but I'll fix that... hehe...
hp: Yup! Gotcha! Hehe... Good call! I'll have to correct both that and the handle... Cool that you think the designs are good though!
Maxetormer: Luis! Happy everytime you do have a minute! Hope everything is well in Mexico, and that you're getting a lot of work! Gonna take you up on the dynamics/foreshortening thing! I'm gonna have to do some more studies.. hehe.. No chance I'm giving up on the fantasy stuff though.. haha... I'll balance it as well as I can! Thanks for the thoughts!
Sorknes: Cool! Great that you like 'em! Uhm... you're gonna have to remind me... the church ruins...? I vaguely remember we've talked about some ruins stuff, but I can't remember atm.. sorry
Thank you guys for all the replies! Awesome that people drop by here in spite of my rather infrequent updating... haha...
Pictures 'n' stuff... I'll scan som pages soon and get some pencils up here again!
Studies, a finished enviroment, some weapon-thumbnails, a late night speedpaint from the hostel I was staying at in Orlando, a sloppy troll... some thumbnails for a character... stuff... hehe

This thread pumps me up with motivation. Thank you.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions man! I'm pretty new to digital stuff (and most stuff) so technical help definitely helps...I wish I could give you some constructive crits but you're much ahead of me that's its going to be hard....I have noticed (I also have this problem) that on some of the faces that you draw from imagination, the faces lack a littlebit of expression, or the expressions are a littlebit ambiguous...I think it can easily be fixed by studying expressions a bit more and figuring out face anatomy a little better but other than that, I haven't noticed anything that has really taken my attention negatively from your work.you seem to be on the right tracks and your work is awesome! also thanks for noticing the graffiti...its soemthing I also love doing and that probably got me into other forms of art, ie caricature, conceptuual, monsters, etc....
good stuff man, I'll update my sketchook hopefully more often and you can jump ocasionally to crit
peace.
Latest update is totally tits! I especially like the row of thumbs, she's a step in a more dynamic direction compared to what you usually do! She still suffers from straight arm syndrome tho, thats a little boring and you know it.![]()
Look forward to kick it with you in may. Keep em coming!
PS: FSM = flying spaghetti monster!
Nice update!!!
I really like the thumbnails, you've managed to get a lot of different stuff there in oneAnd the interior, like that alot. Both that and the outside one is taking you away from the mud city we were talking about as well
I'm way worse than you there though
![]()
I know it's getting old, but I see you improving sketch dump by sketch dump. Awsome work on your part. Keep going!
You asked if it was Nes Church ruins when I posted some digis I'd made based on church ruin photos I'd taken![]()

Lakka: Hehe.. I ain't planning on stoppin' anytime soon! Glad I can be of inspiration!!!
Saurus: Totally right, man... hehe... I need to be study facial expressions more... I'll try to crank some out for the next update! Dropped by right now... you need to update, aight? Hehe...
Slash: Yeah... she does... I'll fix that issue with the rendered version... I'm doing the top right thumb without the cape, since it was kinda cheesy... hehe... I'll get that on here with the next update as well! Always appreciate the crits and asspats!!
Sorknes: Thanks! Cool you like! Nice to hear I'm getting away from the muddiness... always been a problem, so I'm trying to work my way outta that! Hehe... yeah... I checked out some of the photos we took there... wasn't all that much of the ruins themselves though... we got very fascinated with a dead tree that was there... did some lightpainting on the pictures... hehe.. awesome technique... SLR camera set to "bulb" (shutter is controlled completely manually) and we ran around with flashlights and "painted" light into the scene... hehe...
Right... phototechnical mumbo jumbo aside... WIP of a zombiedude

Cool thumbs! I'm not particularly fond of the backpack design you settled for, the silhouette gets a little anonymous. #3 or #4 sans the weaponry would have been a better choice for a more interesting silhouette. The render looks cool, no complaints there, although his left hand looks a little awkward, the extended middle finger in particular.
Watch those intervals, if you update too often you'll shame the name of Lok.Inc!![]()
