    Red face latus's first sketchbook

    Hello everyone,

[sorry if my english gets incorrect here and there]

Finally after some time lurking around this forum and seeing others doing great and inspiring art I decided to create my own sketcbook.

In my life drawing was barely a hobby and I never thought it will become something bigger than that. But in the last few years something changed within me, I started to look more careful at the art, I started to enjoy it more, I started to redraw works I loved the most and it was huge delight for me. I really thought that I was just hyped and it will eventually go away as most of my temporary hobbies, but it didn't.

I decided to bring my drawing to the next level, to become more serious and spend much more time drawing and studying art. And this sketchbook is the very first step doing so.

I believe it will boost my inspiration. I also hope this sketchbook will inspire someone else.

I'm excited and I look forward being part of this community.

Great start! Can't wait to see more.
Try to be less scratchy with your lines if you can. Line confidence!

    First feedback! Thank you!

Yeah I really have a habit drawing one line multiple times till it "smooths out". I think I got this by drawing a lot with pencil.

Well I guess I'll have to spam ctrl+alt+z more instead...

I'd have to agree about line confidence, but other than that it looks good. It's good that you're working on hands early on, as they're a bit hard to get used to. You're off to a good start; keep it up!

I like the girl in the towel - you haven't over complicated it.

Thank you for your feedback! The girl with towel was total accident. She has some sort of expression and life, not like other portraits I did, lifeless Frankenstein-look faces. I'm very happy that you like her as well!

I'm updating my sketchbook with posemaniacs.com 30 seconds human poses study. What I already noticed that I make legs way too small in comparison with the torso.

Oh and by the way, to who didn't know posemaniacs.com is absolutely great for human poses study! Check it out.

    Updating my sketchbook.

Some more quick human poses sketches, arm muscles study and yeah one just for fun - "Say "what" again. I dare you. I double-dare you, motherf****r!"

    My favorite movie.

Haha! XD I LOVE that Pulp Fiction sketch you did. Good stuff for a fantastic movie. Posemaniacs is an okay site but I hear it isn't the best because the poses tend to be unnatural and stiff at times. I suggest checking out this site for doing your gestures,

    Updating my SB.

First one is my cat chilling on washing-machine. Just took a picture and drew from it.

Second one is totally from my imagination. I'm trying to get more confident at it rather than drawing from observation. And that was a little bit of perspective exercise as well.

Third - practice again from one of the favorite movie. Guess which?

Fourth - I'm very proud of this one. Portrait from imagination after watching tutorials from idrawgirls.com

Critique, comments and advice are very welcome!

It has been a while since my last update. Had to deal with relocation from one town to other. But I'm back on track now and prepared to draw even more!

Uploading some environment studies from photos and some random sketches. I'm already noticing my lack of ability to draw forms in 3D. Drawing from imagination in 2D I'm more less comfortable, but when I want to draw from other angles I start making lots of mistakes.

Really want to fix this, thus in I'm planning to add more 3D forms studies in my future sketches.

Critique, comments and advices are very appreciated!

    Cheers!

Focusing more and more on perspective, except those spaceship thumbnails, just couldn't resist to do something cool and brainstorm some awesome space frigates...

Since I felt lacking 3d thinking while drawing, I did some bug studies converting them into simplified 3d forms and put on paper with correct perspective. Also I did quick portrait painting and decided to upload old stuff that I did before I got drawing tablet.

Thank you Mr. P Show. i worked on that one like 8-10 hours.

Creature is work in progress for #266 c.o.w. I think I'll make it b&w, work on forms an values and when with my eye blurred it will look correct, then I’ll get back to colors. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated because I’m quite struggling on this one.
Characters for team challenge I think are quite ok.
And last two are just photo practice.

Spacecraft is w.i.p for I.O.W #31. I know it has some issues with midground trees, will be working on that this evening. Critique for this would be much appreciated!

Second environment is just quick warm-up which turned out something interesting. Painted that one with absolutely no clue, I actually began with Rorschach test.

And last one is female figures and faces studies.

    Peace!

Not much to add but the w.i.p. for IOW. I added colors today and I'm pretty satisfied with the result. I plan tomorrow to add final details and wait for the IOW Finals thread to upload it. I really hope I can win with this!

Oh wow... that's been a while since my last update. My hype vaporized and I slowed down a little... Haven't given up drawing though! This time I'm going to push my boundaries even more.
