This was originally a post about not using photo manipulation, but that is no longer strictly the case. In king pike and baby drawer there are elements of photography in the paper textures, for example with king pike I made the paper part by drawing scales in pencil, scanning those, using them to make the scale pattern, then I drew the rest of the paper fish in photoshop, printed that part out, crumpled it up, photographed it and put it back into the painting and then colored it and adjusted it.

Hehe saw you on Crimsondaggers forum, still incredibly impressed every time I look at them. You popped out of nowhere like a hidden christmas present to become one of my most liked digital artists!

If I am going to be honest, I first thought that the "No digging here" was a 3D scene first, I had to look very carefully before realising it was completely 2D!

Little Boy Lost actually scared me. Can't say there are many pieces
of art that have that effect. It's like it was looking right at me.

I think to achieve that kind of emotional connection takes real talent.

This stuff makes me smile. And cringe a little bit! I think I might have different tastes than the majority, but I like babydrawer. Its so kitsch, it looks like a Walmart photo collage. Again, cringe and smile. And of course finding god is beautiful!

All are incredible, but "Finding god" for some reason makes me feel strange, in an interesting way, amazing idea.

Please keep posting, they are all very inspiring.

    Hi Ya Max,
    OK, I'M ON IT...
So, Max, how do you go about creating these paintings, & do you like coffee?
If you do like coffee; why not try MORE COFFEE?- STRONGER COFFEE...Drink Coffee, Everyday, like I do; than you can stupid things with a lot more energy!
    *lmao*
Seriously, now- "WoW" Work!!! Love It!!!
I know many artists, do not want to reveal their "secret-techniques" but what media do you work with & how do you go about creating these unique, ugly, but awesome "Children"? Cheers
ps- "Dinner" is dependant on the caliber & usefulness of the information you can supply...
I stopped fighting my inner demons; we're on the same side now...

Thanks SINED, glad you like it.

sipher_0, ha, thanks for the questions and the enthusiastic response. I do like coffee, but I'm trying to cut down a bit, I drink far too much.

I'm glad you like my stuff, and to answer your question these are all painted in Photoshop.

Basically my work flow goes something like:

    Think of an idea.
Shoot as much of my own reference as I can.
Find other reference that I might need on the internet.
    Paint the picture.

That's it, no secret technique, and it's always a struggle to make it work.

So, where are we going for dinner?

    Max
