@FROZ3N Thanks man, but I'm having trouble getting my hands on enough explosives... It might be a bit longer before I'm famous.
@Icecold You're doing yourself a disservice. I'll come over and ask some more specific questions then
@will123will Thanks mate
@Joe777k7 I know what you mean, I must have 100 pd- I mean books from amazon I haven't read yet.
@Sean McClain Thanks mate, good to see another leblefebleverebre fan on here
I got a figma toy on ebay a while ago for reference... I was trying to find one with a sword and a gun (they all come with weeny accessories), but I settled for this one because it was quite a lot cheaper than the others. It's surprisingly good as a poseable reference figure. There's no anatomical detail at all, and the proportions aren't entirely realistic, but it's insanely flexible and pretty expressive. The shoulders and hips are articulated so you can get some contra-posto going
It's a lot better than the giant spidey figure I was using. Unfortunately it's a bit fiddly and delicate, I broke the stand immediately.
Still life, half a helicopter photostudy and some materials practice:
cool update,I was looking at that helicopter study for a good minute or two trying to figure out if it is a photograph or not.

lol! "I broke the stand immediately". It all looks very good. I now am excited for further updates because you are now making really awesome stuff.. not that you weren't before.. but ..hm.. maybe i've changed.. whatever it is, keep it coming!
the only thing is that I can't quite tell what materials the material balls are supposed to be. I would guess that the second one is brushed metal? But the largest indicator is the scratched/rough surface lines banding around it. and I'm not sure about the first.. but maybe I'm just stupid. I wouldn't put it past me!
crazy stuff man! robots in post 176 look great! material studies look pretty nice in the last post too! no crits from me yet :b
That helicopter is great, looks realistic, but those clouds break the effect. Nice work with the figma too.
loving the Figma still, and was that helicopter done in photoshop?
@GrayPersona Thanks man.
@Jarrad Thanks mate, don't exactly agree with you but it's nice to hear. Yeah the second ball is supposed to be brushed metal and the first one is supposed to be somewhere between wet/shiny and opalescent. Having trouble finding a way to study materials, I might try replicating real materials in a 3d app then imitate the results in 2d... or something.
@Kevin_ Thanks
@MadGrav Oops, they're supposed to be waves... I should've put more green in thereThanks dude.
@Yemi775 Thanks mate. Everything's photoshop...
Been watching the dark souls 2 trailer...
Your attention to detail is hawk-like. Do you have any goals with pursuing art? I only ask because your work is the work of a task-driven, goal-oriented, passionate mastermind!! It would have been a real treat if you had pictures of your BEGINNING work in your sketchbook! Would love to see your skill when you first started and how much rapidly you have improved.

Really nice work, there is a lot of good stuff in here.. hey, do you use phototextures in your studies from pictures?
-We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.
-Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon 'em.
My SKETCHbook
@Mannyhaatz I hadn't been interested in drawing before I started learning (~three years), so it all looked the same as everybody's does in the very beginning. There's a picture somewhere on the first page from back then
@eclip-se Thanks mate
@rem92 Thanks. Not on photostudies, I usually block in big shapes with solid colours then build things up gradually.
More aborted fantasy sketches... unwinding between material and perspective studies (Reflections, ugh. 3-Point reflections,).
You are doing a really good work mate!!! Very interesting shapes and values. Keep it up!!!

Another great update. I like that piece with blue portal(?). That light effect is really nice. And those small details on robes. Doesn't feel like it's aborted.
@kingkostas Thanks mate, certainly will.
@FROZ3N hehe, thanks man.
@MadGrav Thanks dude, I didn't know how to make the fabric look like fabric (or stick with a lighting direction, apparently), and I went far enough with noodling patterns and things that it wouldn't have been productive to break for material studies, then try to fix it up. It made sense to call it a sketch and move on.
Still life/mini drapery study and a couple of sketches, I keep making fabric look very stiff and planar:
Hey man, glad to see you drop by my SB!
Hahaha yea, updated 2 to 3 times a week....I got loads of work but just forgot to upload it XD
You've made a few more pages since I last checked in here, stuff is looking great!!! Those vehicle designs are coming along very nicely, the shapes are clearly defined and have a lot going on for them....That speeder bike is also very complex but rendered crisply and clearly.
The purple ship comp on post 122 is boss. It's really simple but conveys the message.
Always nice to drop by here![]()
Thanks Sandyman, good to see you back
More perspective sketching practice:
Really cool sketchbook! Looking forward to more![]()
I love the TVR study. Beautiful car
Thanks alot for stopping by my sketchbook! And wow that last post is amazing, really great effort there. YOu seem to have a strong grasp on building forms! Keep going!!![]()
cool perspective studies,looking forward to something more finished.

Some more enviro thumbs and a few symmetry sketches:
sick updates! really like those fantasy sketches, very dark souls! one thing i will say is there arnt many characters in here...maybe try and dish some out? anyways cool stuff!
those thumbnails are great man,makes me want to work on my own composition.
the heads are rendered great too but I am not a big fan of mirroring design workflow , it feels kind of mechanical to me,maybe next time try to make some slight differences between the sides.
keep up the good work and thanks for stopping by my sb.

@kevin_
Thanks mate, I will definitely move onto that soon.
@GrayPersona
Thanks, mirroring seems to be a good way to explore ideas quickly, but I agree it's not a good way to present things.
Great new stuff mate!!! The thumbnails are great, maybe add some random textures in certain areas to suggest detail to contrast with the smooth areas.
Keep up the great work!!!

Thanks mate, that's a good idea for sure. I've been ignoring material and texture properties for too long.
A garruda (kinda):
