    I like the subtle gradients in your last update. You're right about the area around the eyes, unless this is some strong makeup, you wouldn't get something like this. I think that the little "pillows" directly above the eyes protrude more and therefore would catch more light.

    Other than that, I like it. I would love to see that further developed

    @Danny_K

    Thanks for the tip, I've not got worked enough on colour theory, I think I'm getting distracted by hue.

    @ecki

    Thanks, you're right, needed more bounce light in the sockets as well. I need to cover some eye anatomy, I'm definitely not modeling them right.

    @n1frit

    Thanks for the comment

    @Kvenh

    You call that advice? I will keep badgering you...

    @GrayPersona

    Thanks mate, still a long way to go

    Did some more on this, think I forgot to mention it's (obviously) a photo study, I keep making the eyes worse:

    nice photostudy! I feel like the eyes could use a tad bit more harder edges, but thats just my taste perhaps! keep on rocking, mate! It is hard to say much about the photostudy since I don't know what the photo looks like, but it would seem like the hue and temperature in the eye shadows are still a bit "removed" from the rest of the colours.. but at the same time I'd be weary about taking advice from me

    @Kevin_ Thanks man

    @Joe Oh crap, looks like I'll have even more catching up to do...

    @Jarrad Thanks, you're right the colours are all over the place. I was trying mixing them additively on separate layers but it made quite a lot of mess. The eyes are really not right, have been doing a few eye studies to try and get a better understanding. Nothing wrong with your advice, I reckon you keep me pointed in the right direction

    Did a few eye/head studies and crap 30m portraits, really struggling with organising the values, will do a lot more of these.

    Man those paintings!!!!!Awesome!!! Great studies on the head anatomy and construction stuff as well!!! Here was my response to your comment in my sketchbook! "Yea i was trying to distort the humvee on purpose to get a feel that you are really close to it. So i made the vertical line converge more to create a worms eye 3 point perspective on it. But i really do need to learn this "cone of vision" stuff. I keep hearing about it but never take the time to study it hahahahahah Thanks alot for the comment and stopping by! Ill be by your sketchbook now." Which i am in now hahahahahah Yea but any advice on this cone of vision stuff would be great. Going to tyr and research it some Thanks and keep doing amazing posts!!

    Love that space station, portraits are also nice but some of the them feel too dark. It's hard to see details on second and third. Nice head studies too. I'm not sure if you should also try any of the harder angles?

    Do you have any tips where to start if i wanted to make thumbnails like those?

    @Magellan Thanks man

    @Joe Thanks mate. I think the deal with the cone of vision is that anything drawn outside of a 60* cone looks bad because linear perspective breaks down as an approximation of what we see beyond that point. So stuff gets progressively distorted, but not in a nice curvilinear wide angle camera lens way, it just ends up looking wrong. So it's important to either space vps at 90* to each other really far apart, or use a station point to measure the cone of vision. You can also use the station point to correctly locate measuring points for vps, and then determine the correct vertical vp for your viewpoint.
    It's not as complicated as it sounds, but it's probably the kind of thing where you need to work through a good textbook to get a proper handle on things. There's one by Gwen White ('perspective for artists and architects' or something) that I found really helpful.

    @Madgrav Thanks man. For the thumbs I try to make a shape that kind of looks like a 'thing', and then tweak it and add and remove bits to make it more interesting. It helps to group values and try and keep them organised, and using layer masks, clipping masks and selections opens up a lot of possibilities. Learning more about perspective also helps a ton.

    cool head studies but i think you could variate your edges more,try finding those crisp edges-they really help to accentuate the basic form.

    Oo nice portraits! The females are more solid than the males. It seems like the third female may have too much of the back of her head showing, unless that is a bunch of hair. The first man's right (our left) eye is smaller and more sunken into his head than his other eye. It also seems like the third man is made out of a different material perhaps because of that super hot spot on his forehead. Not sure though. I also totally agree with Graypersona about the edges. Get those happening and you'll be UNSTOPPABLE!!!!! OHHH GOD!

    @Charles Ratteray Thanks man, that means a lot to me. Love your work

    @M.Calza Thanks it all helps

    @GrayPersona Thanks dude, you're completely right about the edges, they're 100% hard all the way around the outside and mush in the middle. Definitely something I will work on.

    @Jarrad Thanks man, I did them over a few days, they're in order, I got a lot more confident after the first four or five, and didn't draw carefully enough to start with. I didn't notice that about the third guy looking like metal! I used a different approach on each of them (he was lasso & gradient tool), ended up getting better results with more opaque hard brushes and the smudge tool for blending. I definitely need to work on using edges & texture to define materials better.

    @smrrfette It's not and it isn't, but thanks!

    @blu01 Thanks dude, your latest update was awesome :o

    looks nice! maybe a bit more contrast/hard edges to make it "pop" more? it is hard to say but you could probably go a fair bit further without breaking it i think.

    Thanks guys. I did a couple of variations with a bit more detail, but I can see they're not working. I wasn't thinking enough so the values are all over the shop, and I think the shapes are a bit goofy. It might've been better if I stuck closer to the first sketch, but I think it'll be more worthwhile to start another one. None of these silhouettes work as thumbnails... It was still a lot of fun to paint these, and I've learned a bit

    Hello mate, you said you'd like to recieve an advice from me, bt honestly? I don't think you need one.
    Heck, in some aspects you are waaay better than me, you've got the precision discipline and thought put behind your work.
    If there's any advice i can offer is to find a way to balance art and real life, also stay healthy excersise a lot, its very important.
    There i said it, now continue to kick arse!!
