    Thanks man, you're way too kind

    Another environment sketch; making sure everything is in a sensible cone of vision seems to help a lot with the sense of depth.

    Thanks I'm mostly doing perspective studies that aren't worth posting. Unless you really like cubes and grids.

    Speaking of more of the same... desert convoy thingy:

    Wow man, your sketchbook is amazing! You're a maniac!
    I would suggest to add a little more subtle value changes and details to give an extra boost of realism.
    I love the subtle hue changes in your drawings and how you are able to show scale.

    Keep it up!

    @kevin_ Thanks man, certainly will.

    @Joe I think it's going to be a while before I catch up with you, thanks for the kind words

    @Yemi Thanks mate, glad you like it.

    @ecki Thanks, good point. I find it hard to get a good balance of detail and abstraction, I'll definitely try to work more detail in.

    @phoenicorn Thanks for that, you made my day.

    More enviro sketches, trying to imply more depth and detail:

    Wow Great update! I find myself saying the same thing about your work, it will be awhile till i catch up to the stuff you do hahahah Really Awesome! I am currently self teaching myself all this stuff. Its driving me crazy trying to find the answers but slowly but surely i think i might learning stuff hahahah. Doing the side profiles of those bikes was easy as pie just took awhile to render. Now im going to try drawing some in the 3/4th view. This is where i will fail majorly until i get it somehow lol Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook again! Cant wait to see more from you.

    Really nice update!

    One thing that I don't like that much is your compositions, maybe you could study that stuff a little more.
    Other than that – just keep rocking man!

    Yo man! Nice enviros! I agree with ecki to some degree. Like it post #120 those yellow circles are super distracting and are also in the dead centre of the piece. Somewhat similarly, in your last post, the guy in the first enviro is also right in the centre of the land. I do quite enjoy the second one quite a lot.

    Thanks everyone

    ecki and Jarrad, thanks guys you're absolutely right. Time to get into composition studies (Jama-style)... trying to think in terms of shapes, they were coming a bit easier towards the end, although I'm having trouble thinking in terms of balance and focal points and all that kind of stuff.

    Great sketchbook. I love those spaceships (and other stuff too). Some of your works kinda reminds me of Homeworld. Anyway, I'm gonna follow your thread too.

    @kikindaface

    Thanks, I'll definitely have a stab at it.

    @SophieW

    I will, thanks

    @FROZ3N

    Thanks man, that grainy one is just using a brush with texture mode turned on (and set to height) in the brush options, it's really fun to play with.

    @Danny_K

    Thanks, I really appreciate that

    @Flame_Unquenchable

    Thanks mate, don't worry about it, probably just a temporary lapse in judgement

    @blue01

    What do you mean 'became'?! Thanks dude, now update that bloody sketchbook of yours

    @MadGrav

    Thanks, I always liked the mothership design in Homeworld, definitely an influence. I love all the spiky bits and 45* cut lines

    WOW, awesome work man! I think that you're doing exactly the right thing by practicing those.

    However, some of them lead the viewers eye directly off the page or have a reversed vignette, which is kinda awkward.

    Most of them are kick-ass though! Just look at your last 2 updates and contemplate a little on how they feel to you. Keep up the hard work!

    I really liked your composition studies. Seems like a something worth studying. As I found thumbnails being extremely useful lately, I can see how this can teach a lot. Keep updating with more cool stuff!

    Nice looking sketchbook you've got thar! There is nothing I could really critique except perhaps you could use some more energy in your sketches. Perhaps try looking it drawing more dynamic poses and look into rhythm?

    @Danny_K Thanks, they're definitely helping me to think more about shapes.

    @ecki Thanks mate, I'm finding it difficult to actually 'compose' images, at the moment it's more like I'm finding shapes that I like and shuffling them around until they start to look like something. It might be better if I do some simpler b&w composition studies for a bit.

    @razz Thanks man, they definitely help. I think it'd also be helpful to design a single scene, then block it in from a variety of angles and work out how best to compose the image that way.

    @blu01 No, you were right (I think? Seems your english is better than mine), I was just joking. Thanks for your encouragement

    @kamikazel33t Thanks, I will definitely try and get more movement in future

    I've been doing a lot of Reilly heads lately which are really helpful, also started this portrait. Lots of value and drawing problems still. Looks like she's just been punched in the eye.

    make sure to always check your color paintings for its values by turning it into B&W, yea as far as the portrait goes, good start I would push the values further.
