Did a more complete shading on a face, only to find out proportions were WAY off.
    Also, some plant studies.

Hi Januz, you are off with a good start.

The pages with all the sketches are pretty good. Keep it going.

One thing i notice is that you usually use outlines for all, it will prove a really rewarding exercise if you mix in some drawings where you try using limited values and planes to suggest form. Or use lines along the planes in a way that suggest the 3dimensionality, like with cross-hatching.

I´m not terribly good at explaining things, so i´ll put a few images. these are from kchen´s demos

See how its light thats giving you the sense of bulk, and you can see there are not really too many values so there is contrast between light and shade, the strokes and marks he puts down also tend to follow a direction along the masses to give the ilusion of 3d. Check out the curved markings in the first image in the belly and legs that enhance the round shape.

Lines are a grahic resource, as there are none in real life, so even if you choose to go with line approaches in your drawings its going to boost up the quality as you get use to visualizing everything with its 3d properties.

    Hi!

Good to see you are studying hard.

Like was mentioned earlier you might benefit from some simple exercises in seeing. It's a bit hard to explain, but it's basically to learn to not filter what you are seeing too much. Our brains are wired to simplify visual input into what is important to us, and to draw from reference you need to learn to switch off that filter in your head. One exercise that is surprisingly effective is blind drawing like someone mentioned earlier, but also drawing things upside down will help you, and a number of other exercises.

I can see from your work that you are already able to draw what you see with the landscape, wich looks much better than your pencil drawings. So with some effort you will be able to do that with the human figure too. When I was a kid I got this book called drawing on the right side of the brain, wich helped me a lot. It's full of usefull tricks to help you see better.

    Keep up the good work!

Obstfelder, hey! Thanks for the comments, Drawing on the right side is on my shopping list. I've already spent some time doing blind contour, but none of the others. Negative space seems quite useful.

I'm still having some trouble getting used to thinking "in planes", but I guess it only takes more practice .

Hey Januz! Nice to see you are still working man. So, have you checked the Riven Phoenix Videos already? Anyways, i'm back to anatomy studies too, as you may have noticed on my SB, and i really think doing the studies from the books will help, as long as you try to do it everyday, and from memory. Keep it up man, anatomy is a great commitment, but it's good to do some other things, like you are already doing.

Caio, I watched some of the freebies in his website. Still haven't decided to get the whole thing. The structure of Color looks really interesting though.
