Good news everyone! By using ancient magic spells, I was able to resurrect this sketchbook! Hopefully it'll stay alive a little longer this time, so sit back as I catch you up on what's been happening in a semi-chronological order. I'll try and post some old things each day, as well as something new here and there while.

More stuff more stuff! Some random anatomy studies, material spheres that were poorly executed, a robot sketch and this little environment tile I did recently.

Quick morning update.
Something I was working on yesterday, then realized I need to practice soft surface/natural materials, so I started this
still life and blocked in this morning, but will have to re-do since it changed over night from death and decay, and I'll have school for the next 8 hours.

FatMoStank - Thanks man!
Here's some more stuff, still catchin on up to present day here. Been recently inspired by Bumskee's sketchbook to perhaps work towards doing more characters, so I need to really bust out more hands, feet, faces and poses. Which I will start today as soon as I finish posting this.

are you fucking kidding me? sweet mileage dude! and i love to see that you are whipping your own stuff, i think you can handle more character heavy scenes tho also you should start on sketching your own illustrations as a whole (since you alreay kick so much ass at scenery you got it a bit easier) also a bit of more food for tought, when working a landscape from reference feel free to change it to whatever you please, to make it more dynamic or give more emphasis to some values, you can erase stuff add stuff whatever the fuck you want its your imagei ant wait to see you do your own compositions with and introduce those lovely concepts to a world they could live in
cant wait for more man keep this up!!
my sketchbook! Drawing like a maniac!!

Destroy your weaknesses! theres nothing more to it! stop bitching grab that pencil and sketch Away!
lionheartGFX - thank you thank you! I definitely plan on doing that at some point with the characters, however they first need a world to exploreWhich I'm working on at the moment actually. With that last environment study I actually did change it by imagining more space to the right and left (it was portrait orientation originally), and making a limited color palette. There's a frame in the GIF that shows me check the new composition with some lines.
Speaking of which, I've mostly now planned and prototyped the process I want to use to build this world, so I've started doing (finally) the first batch of orthographic plant views. So here's a short morning update with the first ortho-sheet.

Wow, fantastic work ethic. I feel ashamed...
I love your environments, and Lionheart's suggestion to change them up and make them your own is a great one. I'm going to keep that in mind myself.
Also love your anatomy and figure studies - you're really coming on in leaps and bounds there - and your perspective work is excellent. Really clean lines.
Great stuff. Just keep up the good work!
Really nice colours in your enviros, great material studies too!

NyeAlexandaFrayne - ThanksI'll be doing that with my enviro studies I think. I found they do get boring/repetitive/mindless when just sticking to the bounds of the photo. So for future ones I could play around with constructing the enviro from a different view or expanding the picture frame to include imagined stuff, which is what I did with that mountain one actually.
Candra H - thanks !!
Got some more anatomy stuff, and some more orthographic views of sci-fi plants. Got several more sheets to ink still, but they're all blocked in. Once those are done I'll move on to including them in some exploration/mood paintings to play around with how they're scaled and organized inside of an environment.

Wow! really like your landscape works. Such good use of light.
Sounds like a good plan! Another good method is too find 2 images you like, one for composition/subject matter and the another for lighting/colour. Then study the the first image but using the lighting and colour pallet from the second image. This can create a totally different feel and atmosphere and can create some really strong and high impact images!

Wow great stuff here!! I love it!
I hope to see some of the "tree" things colored in the future! They're so imaginative!
One question, the paintbrush that you painted... Wouldn't the brush bristles be longer, the ones that are closer to you, than the ones that are further away. The perspective seems a bit off there, but maybe it's an old used up brush! I love it anyhow! It looks so realistic!
cfhd - thank you!
NyeAlexandaFrayne - Oooh! That sounds neat.
AdrienneRose - Haha thanks! Yes, I do plan on painting these guys. I've got a few more orthosheets to do, then I'll move on to painting some stuff with them. For the paintbrush, yes I agree the perspective should have been a bit more clear and it could probably be fixed by containing the bristles tighter inside a box form.
Anyways, morning update. Here's three more sheets of objects and some older anatomy stuff, still got a lot of older work to post that I made in my absence from CA.org.

Ack! I am still loving those "organic forms" whatever they are. They're a little reminiscent of Dr. Seuss, which makes me a little giddy inside! haha. I think the ones with "fruit" are great!
I can hardly believe these just came out of your head! I am a failure at that kind of stuff. Maybe it will come to me the more I am creative! I am sure it's something one has to work on as well. lol. Can't wait to see these!
Followed your blog too!![]()
Your studies are fantastic, just wanted to say that![]()

AdrienneRose - Haha thank you for the blog follow, it was getting rather lonely over there! They're going to be sci-fi / alienish plants for a world, and I'm currently working on a few studies before I go further with them. As far as making them goes, the key for me was just to do tons of iterations. I started with an idea of what a sci-fi jungle might look like if all the foliage/plants were hostile/dangerous and foreign to what we see on Earth. So with some ideas about their functions, I made the first iteration which I think was some bulb-like thing with a hole in the middle and rooted to the ground. From there I would just make another, with a few small changes, and they eventually would transform from one plant to the next.
MeteorCat - Thank you
So here's a little morning update. First, a blast to the past with what kind of started these new orthosheets. They started as these marker sketches done a few months ago, and I decided they weren't really clean enough to show in a portfolio, and I wanted to improve/expand on them a little before I really started trying to make this sci-fi world come to life. So I figured why not just start clean and do the sheets again digitally. After that are some little enviro-cube things sketched around a cube made in Sketchup to get a quick perspective. I never finished them unfortunatelyLast, a sketch of a very condensed mountain range that I actually would like to finish. I had to make it two panels since it was too big to upload, and shrinking it would make it unreadable... stupid file size limit...

Still clearin out some old work here. Some anatomy and linework shenanigans, and a character from when I went on a char design binge for a few weeks. He didn't get finished because I didn't care much for the design, and I need to get back into designing chars >.> Sigh... so many things to design and learn about, but not enough time. Also, bad material studies.
