Hello, I'm a self taught artists like most here. I took an interest in art in 2004, and decided to take it more seriously in 2010 doing actual studies with a handfull of dicking around up to this day. I came here in hopes of reaching a higher level of quality art, and pushing myself to reach a more proffesional standpoint of skills and growth. I'm still unsure which profession I want to get into; so I study several forms and styles to have a more broader range instead of a one set path.

I'ma start this sketch book with a recent face study shindig. I need to join an art community that gives honest responses; so I decided to make a commitment here to show my practice and progress for critique, as well as leaving comments of my own. So enjoy and see ya in the forums.

Your stuff looks great, I would clean up your edges a bit though, especially on the girls right arm, the variance in line weight makes it seem hesitant. And I really want to see that wip project when its done. Keep posting

Thanks, and yeah; i have a tough time with edges such as hard and soft, so it just ends up as line art in some type of way to define the shape which can and is becoming a bad habit. I'll be sure to post more.

I can't really draw as much as i want to now a days. but soon, soon I will get back to my daily habits.

Cool start . I really like your WIPs and sketches, but I can't help feeling you lose something when you use colour. I really can't place what - perhaps it's that your shadows are the same hue as the mid-tones? I'm not sure. Either way, great stuff!!

Yeah, I've been struggling with the coloring/ painting bit. I've noticed I lose some dimension the way I color. I think the blue hues in the shadows have to be deeper or brighter rather than a light airbrush over. I never really bothered to approach it, but I guess it's about time I did. Thanks for the input, I haven't thought about such a fact in my work in a long time.
