Done on the passing of Davy Jones.
Had a lot of fun doing this one, really like working in black and white...
Nice charactures! I like the guy singing with the big teeth. AWESOME.
Thank you! yeah that's Freddie Mercury from Queen.
Haha that made me laugh, sorry. They are beautiful by the way, i've always admired people that can do caricatures, you need a huge knowledge of anatomy to achieve that. Good work MDM.
Thank you! Yes I have been lucky enough to be a student of Glen Vilppu for anatomy...been at it for awhile like so many other artist that post there work here. An enormous amount of sketching helps the process along as well...
Are you talking about the process of doing caricatures or the process of learning anatomy? Cause if it is the first one i'd really love to see how you work on this things *__*, if it's the second one... well i know something about (omg i feel sick when i look at my sketches, there are at least 2 or 3 forests in those paper there...).
Lemmy (Motorhead)...Caricature.
Mmmm, process...anatomy is just a given, helps to understand the caricature more. It's good to know that there is a functioning structure under the skin. Playing with shapes at first while sketching is were I start...usually that's were the development for me starts of the subject. When I see someone or working from an image, I usually start playing around with what hits me first about that subject and then I start rendering the other features. If i have time, I'll sketch and sketch until I'm satisfied, sometimes I'll nail that subject and others I have sweep quietly away into my trash, haha. Over time you tend to build a library in your head and it does get easier the more you work at it. I always try to capture emotion, and I find playing with shapes helps the process and I like the dynamic feel I get from it. Coming to find out exercising your memory, helping yourself to remember images of someones features or just in general helps you to see a painting through. I tend to stare at times and I get that "what the F#@k are you looking at look," haha! This is what has worked for me, I still think I'm a novice at it, I admire the artist around me and learn from them.
Girl Sketch
Did this awhile back, I believe I was trying out brushes in Photoshop...
So good man, i love them. Keep posting! I know that people are following this thread even if they're not leaving messages.
Thank you, yeah if anyone is getting anything out of my posts that's awesome or if they simply like the art...that's great, thank you in advance.
Here is a sketch of Bruce I did a week ago...
The sketch is cool but i think you didn't catch the right details so well man. I dunno, this time feels very different from the subject.
Haha...finally came across one that your not sure about, that's cool. I remember using two reference images for this quick sketch...usually when I do these I focus on the first thing that pops out, and I believe it was his eyebrows and the lop sided hair in one of the pictures. Perhaps I focussed on the wrong characteristics...I think more sketching would remedy the issue. I'll try and do more sketches here soon of him. I have come across those subjects were it was challenging to do a caricature of them, although I don't think this is the case with Bruce.
Hehe oh yeah i can be a pain in the ass if i jump off the bed on the wrong side.
Anyway i think (and i may be very wrong on this cause i'm not familiar with caricatures, i don't know the rules!) that you have missed something very important, the huge muscles he had around his lips (i don't know the english name of them ^^").

I'm going to go out on a limb here, your a fan or had great interest in him at one time or another? I know anatomy is great importance(Orbicularis oris/Risorius), but mind you this is a sketch...basically a general rough to convey an idea. The images I referenced, were in that time period were he did "Enter The Dragon." He had a very animated mouth, a lot of Bruce's expression is there. I should direct my attention more there next time. I did like three or five quick sketches of him in this pose, and I was having issues rendering his right hand, go figure? No worries about being an "ass," I have thick skin, HA!
Can someone not be a fan of Bruce Lee? Anyway i know this is a sketch, i'm just animating a little this topic talking about someone well known with someone who knows his business about something that is better to be known if you want to do the job this forums talks about (and yes it took me some time to write this down).
PS: Sorry for being an ass, you know that i love you...
Hahaha right...this thread is open for critiquing. I won't bite your head off, well maybe a little.
P.S. @Hitsu//San, no worries..."Your my kind of a$$hole." At one point in the near future, I'll render out a more polished version of Bruce Lee.
I love your work, but I have to agree that Bruce Lee doesn't look right. He looks more like Dragon Lee, who was a famous Bruce Lee impersonator. At the same time though, I knew who it was suppose to be. Keep them coming!
Well it's apparent that I don't know my Lee's, lol. Thanks Shorinji_Knight for checking out the thread and commenting. I'll try and do another Bruce Lee here soon...this was just a sketch, I'll fit in a Bruce painting here soon...currently have a few paintings going on right now, doing a Robin Gibb. I'll share when I'm done...
Here is one I was working on here and there. Trying new techniques out...it's like that piece that you tell yourself you spent to much time on it and you just need to move on...
Some are really well done, I love the motorhead and the girl in post #3 the most. Stunning!
The Bruce Lee sketch didn't really look like Bruce Lee like some have said already, but it was defenitly good practise. These kinda drawings will probably help with drawing realistic faces a lot aswell, since you learn to get the most striking facial trades out of someone.
Keep it coming, Ill be following.
hahaha Mdm those Bruce Lee you drawn is going to be your demon...
Nah...I'll render more Bruce Lee here soon, I have a couple paintings going on right now. I'll make sure he does not look like Dragon Lee, lol.

Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees.
Have been self teaching myself 3D off and on for some time, still a novice at it cause there is always something else I'm working on, lol. Here are some abstract shapes that I try to do a couple of times a week to learn lighting, modeling...etc. or just for fun. Done in Cinema 4D.
