    Kysg ID/viscom study group

I'm setting this up along side my blog. I read through most of yoitisi's stuff and I'm probably going to base majority of it off what he did.

To help prepare and supplement for redengine/CDA I wanted to work more on Viscom/ID style. Also fundamental stuff such as perspective.

No immediate updates will happen but I will go over really basic stuff, and hopefully I can get into drawing vehicles, mechs, small environments, and compositional workups.

So if anyone wants to join the group they can.

This will be updated on tuesday.

First post will be on perspective 1pt and 2pt.

lastly I'm working strictly traditional - no photoshop or painter, or at least until I see the need for it.

    okay I simplified this down.

In many cases you would start with a drafting pencil/triangle/toughstuff eraser to teach this but I had to get this done quickly.

1 Pt easy. Just a horizon line, the picture plane which is the piece of paper we are drawing on, the diagonals receding to the vp. We have a worm's eye view and bird's eye view.

I'm not accounting for cone of vision, no line weights, have not introduced a ground line yet, no scaling either. this is is just straight up drawing boxes/cubes in 1 pt.

The bottom page is warm up, and I have 3 free handed pages of 1pt.

I'm using a zebra eco jimnie and kelly copy paper. Also have a triangle with me to get straight lines.

so if you want to follow just freehand a few pages of 1pt boxes,

hi dude, like what your doing keep it up. Ill post some later on.

just a suggestion feel free to discard but i think you should be focusing on drawing straight lines without a ruler, its possible and useful and will sharpen your hand to eye coordination. Focus on getting as straight a line as possible. try yotisi's thread its really good.

    Good luck and keep going.

uh huh, theres a whole rhyme and reason behind that, but I'm not going to go there.

everyone thinks you have to have straight lines for this I'm not trying to be a sketch artist, thats what tracing paper and marker paper were developed for, that is what overlaying was developed for, but I'm not gonna argue just the mindset of people who love seeing perfect lines...

    aggravated? or bored?

I know it seems pretty tenuous to sit and just sit and freehand 1 pt perspective with just boxes, but I do it because it matters when freehanding big shapes, and dividing shapes, and when correcting a form, also it gives me old work to look at, didn't realize my freehand had degraded so much.

I plan on doing just basic boxes for one more and then I'll start introducing some other concepts.

    oh yea care nice abstraction.

Update: gotta work on those lines.

So pretty much start off with a warmup and then break into sketching these boxes.

The next set of updates will deal with different ways to plot these boxes.
