    Velocity

Welcome to my sketchbook, i dont know if this needs a proper introduction or something like that, but instead i guess ill just introduce myself.

I just recently turned 18, not that this matters however. I like to draw, and paint, digitally mostly, like so many other people here.

My goal is to create believable worlds, or characters, maybe not in the sense of realistic rendering, but i want to create something that people can.. feel. To me that is one of the hardest things, as its probably a sum of a lot of different things coming together i.e concept, rendering, colours, perspective etc.

Aaaaanyway, now to the reason that im actually making this thread. This will act as a source of motivation hopefully, and maybe also a way for me to show people what i love to do. last but certainly not least a way to get some super great feedback that will help me move forward, hence Velocity.

Very nice considering that you're still in high school! I suggest that you keep at the fundamentals while working on your concept stuff.

WOW i like your work a lot, this i like very much.

id say remember to try new things, try and get paid work for experience,
speed painting is great but analyse structure too, dont worry about being too perfectionist, dont be detered by negative advice and enjoy yourself. if you love it and put energy into it when you can youll be really great soon.

edit i moced the horizn down a touch, see what you recokn

@fightingseraph - thanks!! and for sure, i guess my weakest point, is how much i slack when it comes to studies, i really should do more of them, atleast if i want to learn faster. fundamentals are so important!
@Velocity Kendall - Thank you so much! i think trying new things is super important, its not always easy to get out of your comfort zone, but i guess its only out of your comfort zone that you learn. I think i will wait with paid work until im better, whenever that is . And yeah, i guess ill just have to mix it up a bit, so i switch between
speedies and more rendering based pieces. And yeah i love it, i often find myself viewing the world completely different when im just walking, or taking the bus. like breaking down things into form and colour. anyway! sorry for the wall of text.

about the horizon moved down, i guess it makes the structure seem bigger, as the sky has more space, i like it! im not sure if im going to change the piece now, but if i would, i guess moving down the horizon would be better, also maybe i would add some more overlap/foreground element! again thanks!

    in the meanwhile

So a lot of things have happened while i have neglected this sketchbook, or yeah, a lot is maybe a bit of an overstatement, but anyway THINGS have happened. First of all im now 18! which is sort of cool, but then again, i hate getting older, the older i get the less excuses i have for not doing stuff. I went to Roskilde Festival aswell, which was actually during that i turned 18 so that was pretty crazy, got to hear a lot of good artists, and hang out with a lot of cool people. I've also been drawing ofcourse so i have some things i need to scan. These are mainly my digital sketches.

The 4 legged mech is from yesterday, i got some feedback from my good friend Jonas Andreassen, and he gave me some "homework" aswell. so now im constructing the mech again just as a line drawing, so i know what goes where, and how one thing fits another. After that, im getting some ref, to get inspired from, and maybe do studies from, and then after that, ill move back to the linedrawing, do an even tighter one where i use my studies as ref, and yeah after that i might paint it again, its going to take a while, but im sure ill learn! sorry for the wall of text.

    sketches

kidult> thanks, and i will, i just need to get into a rhythm where i do them regularly!
JiR> Yeah, i did it with markers, thought of like Richard Anderson when i did them, you should really check him out! his stuff is like controlled chaos.
Kambei Shimada> I recently turned 18 though, so i guess im a bit behind now ) And thanks a lot, lets hope i can exploit that potential somehow!
LePush> Thanks bro! and yeah for sure, id be down to do some collabs!!!
Gpozzo> Thanks a lot! ill keep going like a duracell bunny haha!

So i was actually painting on something, but a lightning struck down in a nearby electricity mast, resulting in a power out in the whole house, oh and yeah.. ofcourse i forgot to save, so here are some sketches instead hehe.

Will be doing some studies shortly

Very nice! There's a lot of variety and for a start you've got some solid stuff here. Just practice practice practice and I bet you'll grow tremendously as an artist

Nice sketchbook! You've got some great studies, very well done.

    practical use

Trying to use my studies practically, in the sense that after i do a study, ill try to do an image using some of the same elements i just learned. Hopefully with time that will help me to build my visual library, and transfer my studies more "directly" into my own stuff.

so this one is from imagination as you can tell.
