    Human Heads

Recently, I began studying Andrew Loomis's book "Drawing the Head and Hands".

I self-taught myself how to draw and paint. And this book have helped me greatly in my effort to become a better artist so far, and make a living out of it.

I still have LOTS to learn..so here goes..

    Human Heads Part 2

From Plate 3 of the book "Drawing Head and the Hands" by Andrew Loomis.

Some of the exercises are from the book and others from real-life observation.

    Practicing..

I've been reading Andrew Loomis book "Drawing the Head and Hands".

So far, I've been studying men's head for awhile, before studying female's.

Here's another practice, this time, its Gordon Ramsay.

Good job dude, keep it up! Those portraits will be looking great in no time, Loomis is a great teacher. Also, if you need help improving your digital painting skills, why not try your hand at traditional painting first? They're fairly similar and many of the same concepts apply to both. Keep it up! You seem to have more difficulty with female faces rather than males, I too face the same problem; just keep practicing and you'll get it eventually

    More practice - Football Greats

LuckyCharm - Thanks for dropping by and the valuable feedback! I'm working on watercolor painting right now, just for the fun of it.

Here's more practice. This time, I sketched 3 football greats, Ronaldinho, Kaka and Jose Mourinho. I'm sorry if I didn't do them any justice.

good amount of practise, to get that 3d feel and not be "suckie" first off don't be down
on yourself, no.2 value! practice on faces since your doing them well, its basically shading
, and youll get that 3d non flat effect, after wards you can try will
a simple overlay layer on your apple for instance and imagine a sphere its darker as it heads to the floor etc, you;ll surprise yourself. and your work will look 100X better
i started just the same as you and im still learning, its a never ending battle!!!!
    hope that helps

    More practice

Gpozzo - I love both the The Beatles, Queen and more musical acts from the 60s and 70's. I love sketching them a lot! For my watercolor paintings, I decided not to post it yet because it's seriously suck. When it is getting better, I try to post it. Thanks for the feedback!

AdrianNagorski - Thanks for the advice and tips! I probably shouldn't be down on myself but that's the way I really feel about my drawing right now. But I try to put in more effort to improve them.

Here's more practice of human heads, I have to say, I find it enjoyable sketching them.

Those portraits of yours are still kind of scary.. Try not to use so many heavy lines, and measure the proportions more carefully when you draw. Good luck!
