I don't get it either.
The first image had a great cloud sky type texture. The second image appears to have big ink blotches on it.
What is the image meant to be? This may help for crits.

I saw an image like this on renderosity. It was a vortex to heaven sort of thing. There were people walking up the vortex towards the light. You oughtta look for it. The piece she did was really done well. Your work here is almost identical in nature. Maybe it's like a ring (movie) thingy.
