cool sb, your perspective practices look pretty good but anatomy and proportions still need work, then again everyone could use practice in that field :b anyways keep posting!

Head gestures. Tough to do. lots of proportion issues, but getting there slowly. Trying different emotions.

im not sure what you mean by head gestures. gesture in terms of figure drawing is a movement... if your drawing a floating head on the page without even the articulation of the neck it cant have movement...

..stop drawing the hair. what you should be aiming for is an understanding of the structure of the head and putting in big black masses of hair is just going to obscure the skull and stop you from really learning anything valuable. get those anatomy books, study the skull, do self portraits and try and feel your skull for the parts where the bone is close to the skin and how it affects the contours of the face. study different facial types.

and i would spend less time on the presentation of your work with the weird borders and backgrounds and signatures and checklists....just draw, my friend

hi thanks for the feedback was much appreciated.

the structure of the head is something ive been meaning to study for a while now. i figured maybe just observing it on heads was enough but i might go a bit deeper. Thanks for the info.

gestures can refer to facial movements also, and the backgrounds dont take much time .

I went to ur sb and u got loads of good stuff there keep up the good work.

All These heads are from my head .

Some of them are good some of them are bad... Starting to draw through and think about an object in 3d shape has really helped me understand how to draw it.

Really seeing an improvement, most of these heads are from the imagination. tried replicating heads in different angles. also made a head in 2pt perspective.

Looking better! What you might want to do is draw some very simplified skull shapes in many wild angles. Start with cranium + maw then move on to adding a simple nose and brow, get the form and perspective perfect on those first.

Also I love the renderings on some of your life drawings on the previous page!

sunset study... was meant to be a speed paint, went way too long on this one, finding it hard to speed up. mildly satisfied with the end result. Used only the RGB slider for picking colours.... but got tired halfway thru so the colors got lost a bit. took about 20hrs. Next ones will be quicker.

Edit: so looking at it again i can see the reason whyy its off is cos the edges are off in the middle bits.... working on those will be prioritized.

    noses

Practiced some noses.... Gonna do some more soon.

Thinking about the shapes is very helpful especially how they lock together. need some more practice looking down on nose as that perspective is the hardest for me right now. also on the more subtle planes on the nose and how to colour.

I've been, through your sketchbook and I can see your anatomy getting better and better.
You've been doing some very interesting studies, such as the 3D architectural 'wireframe' and stuff.. really neat (:
    Keep going!

The architecture stuff is really cool!

The heads though, you are making the faces, so that they are on a straight plane down the face, and you are flattening out the face and the features, remember the nose bumps out, a fair bit. Maybe checking out some skulls would help, and Loomis would really come in handy.
