This guy has blue flame around his body, his lower half is like a snake but with a pine cone texture thing happening. I also want to give him orange glowing tattoo markings all over his body.
please help, thanks

I would continue the lighting work you started on the arms and side of the torso. Get some photo to see how the light go through some thin part of the skin like on the ears. It can be a good lighting exercise.
Its a bit confusing. The flames are definitely not all around his body--they are only behind him. If they are behind him, he should probly look more backlit.
try darkening him a little and popping those rim lights like paul said.
Looking not too shabby tho.
for instance...
You would need a secondary light source to have him lit that much. He would almost be a complete silhouette with the fire directly behind him...
Paul - thanks for the paint over, it really helps.
Artfix - actually I think having the flames trailing behind him would be a cool idea, almost like a cape flowing behind. I'll try it out and see if I can make it look right.
Lag - I dont know what the second light source would be. I was just hoping for imaginary light, I know thats not what its called but Burne Hogarth wrote something about it in one of his books. (cant find my copy or I would look it up) but I see what you're saying.
thanks for the help guys, I'll work on it.

...Then try not to add to much highlights to the infront. use midtones and shadows and show high concentration of light near the edges.
I think that would pull off the look you going far, because if you made two highy concentrated light sources it would dilute the image and in turn dilute the message.
I did some work on this. Put highlights around sides, moved one of his arms, tried to make the flames look like they are going back rather than straight up, added some glowy tattoo scar things and fixed his crown and ears a little.
How do you think this is going so far?

no worries man, thanks for at least seeing what i do... to tell you the truth, i prefer a more lively evil, but i see your point - yours is definitely an alternate method of success, for evil.
I wonder if you're able to see what you are doing by yourself. Try meditating or something, enables you a new perspective on yourself, eventually finding out why you are getting refused.
i know im good, and i know im extremely different from you, but also exactly the same as another group of people, who believe in instinctive creation.
Well then, keep moving, this place is for people trying to learn drawing, not "art", and even less what you define as to be "art".
