Thanks a lot Keven, Greymatter. I appreciate it.

Nerferinn:Replied in your SB, but yeah, got accepted.

So, yeah, Art Center in two months. And today I just had the realization of how awful my drawings still are and how little finished work I've done. Can't believe how crappy and slow my construction is.

I locked myself up in my comfort zone for too long, and irrational fear and procrastination kept me from actually exploring myself with personal works. For all this time, I tried to escape from exposing my real skill level to myself by not caring enough about my pieces and doing bullshit doodles and studies.

And for all this despicable complacency, I get seriously lackluster progress in return, in spite of all the time I spent on it.

So now, I gotta really start making up for things I've been neglecting to do. So here, a dump of shit from imagination.

Thanks Kerah and Nicky. And yeah, indeed it's the best thing to paint(most enjoyable at least)

Painting study of a Hamlet director interviewed by BBC. She looks so intelligent and she's probably a very interesting person to talk to too.

Made a portrait just to solidify what I've learned.

I tried to paint out what I think would be the best kinda girl, the ideal girlfriend. Chubby, glasses, nerdy, intelligent and cheerful. I don't think I actually succeeded in quite matching my mental image though. Oh well, next time.

I like the brushwork on your first pic in the most recent post, and i love the portrait from post #169
I hope you do more figure drawing studies and pay strong attention to getting all of your proportions as perfect as you can (like they do in ateliers but only spend like an hour or 2 on each one instead of a month, since we exist in a faster paced world than academic painters), i think that will help you a bit
Be sure to use comparative distances and plumb lines, they really help
That's what i'm doing right now, anyway, and it's really helped me get faster and more accurate on studies and work from imagination
hope it works for you too!

Hey, congratulations on the art center admission! I hope it does you a lot of good, and you enjoy your time there.

The artwork is, as usual, looking great. I have to admit, though, that now that you're pushing yourself, some seams are showing-- but I guess that's for the best. It's best to keep challenging yourself in this field, and what's a new piece of work without getting to indulge into some problem solving? Keep updating.

And thanks a lot bro, Nerferinn. And I hope you keep on posting too. You're one of my art heros here.

Vritra: Thanks very much man. And yeah, some of my problems do come to the surface if I tried to do more difficult things though. Can you tell me more about the seams you see?

Tried to spend longer on a drawing after the last one. Get a bit more solidity.

I don't know whether my feedback is going to be of any help, but since you asked for it...

Anyway, disclaimer: these opinions are utterly subjective, so I hope you will thoroughly evaluate their validity before accepting them. Also, I am not at all sure whether I am qualified to give you any suggestion, let alone point out 'seams' in your work. Moreover, your overall work is already at a fairly competitive level, and whatever I point at are far from being glaring mistakes. Having said all this, let me give it a shot.

The first thing that strikes me is the general lack of rhythm/fluid gestures that pervades your more 'full figure' works. Rather than zooming in on anatomical details of the body, I think you should first look at the human body as a mass. Try to work out what makes actions look more organic and dynamic, and what gives character to even standing figures. My personal suggestion would be gesture drawing, preferably from life or more dramatic mediums such as television shows or films.

Also, I think you lose sight of a lot of your under-drawing in your final rendered versions. This inference is entirely drawn from the fact that your line work feels more organic, and loose, compared to your more digitally rendered works. A good way of approaching that would be to paint on a different layer, then constantly turning it off and checking to see if the dynamism of the line art is still alive. And, if possible, flipping the canvas frequently and zooming out.

The point being, that you should concentrate more on the bigger picture. Try to look at it as a one-piece sculpture, where you first knock in a large shape. Then, slowly, you build on it (or from it) by chipping away little by little, slowly working your way into an overall shape rather than directly jumping into finishing a particular portion.

I sincerely hope that helps. Your work is shaping up extremely well, I think.

Ludic: Thanks man, I actually have no idea what I was doing.

    Black Spot: Yep, very true.

Umbravita: Yeah, I just keep on telling myself I should actually finish something. But oh well, now I actually need to really work on my draughtsmanship first.

Vritra: Oh man, that is the single best critique I've got on the internet, and probably the one of the most helpful critique ever. Thanks very much.

The lack of gesture is really obvious in my finished works. Part of that is that I simply didn't think of gesture when I did them. And I definitely should. The same with the tightness as well. I should really just do more figures from mind really, and make sure they actually have good gestures.

So here's a few girls from mind, and a furry as well xD

Oh man, I love those cat heads, they're fantastic.

Your character work's looking really good lately! Great sense of personality. Similar to what I said last time I commented, a couple months back - watch the understructure. The biggest offenders are your heads and legs; they feel a bit puffy in a lot of the images, without much sense of bone under the skin. On the plus side, both your drawing and painting has a really lovely rhythm to it lately, great energy, good stuff.
