    Bon jJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOvVviI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all, my name is Aaron Noraa, a 20 yr old guy. I used to be a student in Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art for two years before my parents abruptly stopped paying for me. LAAFA's really awesome place and it has taught me quite a lot of fundamentals about painting and drawing, and I had to stop just as we begin to touch on design and concepting. It was the saddest and most disastrous thing in my life that I had to leave.

So yeah, I love CA. The community here is great. I decided to make a sketchbook so that I'll get some feedback from you awesome people and make some friends around.

It's gonna be a lot of fun Danny, I've always think it's time to make new friends. ----The Shining
And I'm sure it'll indeed be a fun journal of my art progress, and hopefully without twins holding hands, decomposing old woman and going berserk with an axe as well.

I tried to make a caricature of Han Solo, but except for the big mouth, it all looked too naturalistic. I'll try to make a series of these nerdy caricatures, and try to be more "caricaturistic" in the futureAttachment 1426359

I posted this in the Critique Center already but I'll post it here as well. Still need to finish up the hands 'n stuff.

A study after Velazquez, two hours. Velazquez is definitely my second fav artist after Rembrandt. Such beauty.

And as I was browsing the internet today, I saw a painting and had this concept. But then it turned out horrible so it remains a color comp.
I seriously need to work on environs.

Why aren't my images showing up? Can you guys see the attachments?

WTF? This makes no sense at all. The code looks the same and you can see the images if you click on them. But why?

...this makes no sense at all, will upload from other image hosts from now on.

Thanks Mantis, all of them are done in PS. I used to use PaintToolSai but I ended up "conforming" to PS. You know, it's nice to use the most popular thing when it comes to tools, lots of tutorial, lots of similar experiences. And when I had digital classes, it kinda feels stupid to use PTS when everybody else is using PS >___<

Nice figures! They read so well and the skin tone is just spot on! You are obviously very talented. Too bad about your art school mishap, I sincerely hope that it doesn't prevent you from accomplishing your goals.

    Great sketchbook, keep it up

So good to see that you're still doing art Don't stop! I hear your dad is letting you come back next year to go to art center?

Also, you must draw a decomposing old woman now.

Thanks, b_h_bloomer, don't think I'm very talented at all. I mean, just look at the doodle's algenpfleger did in 30 minutes like 3 three months after studying art. They're way better than what I did in hours.....

Neferinn, haha, LAAFA people are awesome, and most of them kick my ass |___|, like Maisie here.
And no, my foundations are pretty damn far from solid, just look at those hideous nude doodles you know. So much more to work on @____@

Maisie:Yep, still chopping at it! It's a lot harder without LAAFA though, but oh well, at least I have fun painting pretty girls.....
And yeah, hopefully I will go to ACCD next year, can't wait to get back under the CALI SUNSHINE!
Rotting old woman......Well, as you command, considering I had called you "mein fuhrer" of our group once(If you remember lol). But now, you must paint evil horses in Victorian clothing!

Anyway, here comes more studies. Maybe I shouldn't paint so much from porn @____@, think I need to paint some bodybuilders to actually learn about muscles. Hmmmm... bodybuilders and porn actresses, quite a interesting cast of characters for my paintings LOL.

haha you have some very imaginative works here, and its a great start to a sketchbook. I´m sorry to hear that you didn´t get to complete your art course, but hopefully you will be able to carry on the learning with CA and the community here.

Seeing as you started this sketchbook for criticism I´ll try and give some. I would recommend throwing some more variation in edges into those paintings and studies. Perhaps they are quick, but (as Im sure you know if youve been to art school) edges are one of the main considerations in a painting, so it would be worth adding more variation to draw attention or focus.

Anyway, I hope that helps, and good luck with the rest of the sketchbook!

mAisIeFalLen(Korean gamer nickname style): Yep, it's on, and I'll do it after I finish this other the Shining inspired pic muhahahhaah. When's your break BTW?

Evan Kitson, Nubian_Greene, thanks very much, there will be MOAR MOAR MOAR!

ThomasM Yep, carry on with CA is the idea. Thanks very much the critique, it is spot on. I indeed made edges too uniform on these, need to try much harder. But then I was a bit experimenting with different medthods, like lassoing and locking opacity. I should definitely loosen up the edge afterwards though.

More studies! Now with pretty naked women, massive bodybuilders, a Jeff Simpson study, and a Jeff Simpson study(Amazing artist BTW, you guys should check him out).

Hey, thanks, StarEater, that's my problem actually, I'd rather make my 2D images less sculpted and more ephemeral and transparent. But then, it'll come later.

And thanks Max, good job again on the Kill Chara thing.

I've been not very keen on digital painting recently, spending all day doodling away with my mecha pencil. Maybe I should post some sometime.
But I was working on this week's Teen Challenge, Death of Medusa. Anyway here we go.
