As Mat said, Bridgman is definitely helping! You'll definitely improve quickly if you stick with him.

Some nice things going on in this update - I think I like the piece with the bird best. (Nice reflections on the eye, good detail in the direction of the feathers.)

    Keep it up!

Trigger, sorry I havn't been around much. Moved house an all. Anyway, yes, as others have said keep practicing those ellipses. It is no easy feat, but will really pay off. I find them easier to do by drawing a square in the right perspective, divide into quarters and draw the ellipse within that square. Keep up with those cups and any cylinderical objects, they will help immensely with your ellipses.

Good work!! Keep chugging it out!

Yes they are looking a lot better...now just keep practicing and work on some perspective! Another very fundamental aspect among many others. I'm back online in our new home so I will be picking up activity again.

I think what would help you a bunch with your feet is to try drawing the skeleton under the feet first. It might help to understand the bones under them before diving into the smaller parts like the toes and things.

On a completely opposite note, that shoe is looking great and the ellipses on the turned over cups as well. Your improving! Just keep on it.

Bridgman definitely seems to be helping you. Nice studies!

Keep practicing those ellipses! (They're a great warm up practice in addition to helping you get better control over your pencil - make sure you're trying to draw them with your whole arm and not just from your wrist, you'll get a much nicer flow doing them that way.)

Love the detail on the sneaker.

    Keep it up!

Sorry for not updating in a while the internet problems are back and wrse than ever and ive been having a few sleep problems again and ive just had a bit of an art block in general.

Damien Levs:Yeah I need to start working on perspective again I don't do enough of it.

Mat Kaminski:Good idea i'll try that once the internet gets back to working right.
I think the shoe turned out good too but I think I drew it way too small.

Riley Stark:Trying to stop drawing them using my wrist but my god they look awful XD ill post some of them soon the ones ive psted so far have either been done with my wrist or have been drawn woth my whole arm but ive gone over them a bit using my wrist.

Sorry for how much of a mess these pictures are I didnt notice up till now just how much friggin dog hairs and stuff there is on my scanner.

The second picture I did while visiting an art museum I was really friggin tired that day so I don't think it turned out that good im hoping to go back there in a few weeks or so and il retry draiwng it or I might just draw it from the internet.

The 4th and last drawings are both from the dark/demon's souls artbooks
Ive recently really got back into them games and im gonna try drawing most of the drawings in their artbooks because the art for them games is freaking brilliant.

No worries about the dog hair. (As a cat owner, I understand how that stuff just gets everywhere sometimes.)

Bridgman continues to be looking good. The creature with the robes and the bell is kind of interesting - there's some nice detailing in the fabric. The scorpion creature in the last drawing is interesting, too. (Your control with the pencil is coming along quite nicely.)

    Keep up the hard work!

Riley Stark:Thanks really like how the bell creature came out too although I don't like the scorpion one don't think I got some of the creepier aspects of it down right and the shadings a bit too dark.

Okay my internet is fully back up right now and im pretty much out of that drawing block I had so im gonna be back to updating reguarly again.

youre coming along really nicely my friend, that portrait looks nice, except i noticed that you ares till doing the scratchy line thing, remember fluid lines! and use your elbow not your hand to draw, your hand should remain still

quick rule of thumb, do NOT draw each individual teeth, you render teeth by using shading and not line itll look weird otherwise, try looking for some teeth rendering videos on youtube

edit: found a link explaining some of what im talking about its not a how to but itll do http://library.thinkquest.org/C00547...ique/lips.html

i would focus on the simple shapes more. find photo reference like this:

or simple reference objects at your places. cylinders, spheres, cubes, cones, etc. just practice drawing those, studying the form and the shadow. not the most exciting thing to do, but those are the building blocks for everything else you do. when you become comfortable with these, you will draw based on how form works, rather than having guesses at where lines might go.
keep up the hard work mate, you can do it

I love your enthusiasm to hit the hands early, most people are afraid to tackle that problem till it's too late. I just wanted to let you know that I found it really helpful to focus on form first, which is basically what Bridgman talks about in the first few chapters. Try and take your time on these studies, one drawing can teach you a thousand things. Anyhow, keep em coming.

Your hands are showing improvement pretty much from post to post.

I'm liking the amount of stuff you post. You just pretty much go and go and go.

These lines are really where you should be headed in your life drawing. They look smooth and fluid and not so scratchy...Great work! Keep at it. I envy your devotion to your craft. I wish I had more time in the day.

    I don't know if you're aware,
but I think your ellipses are too square.

I really like those Bridgman studies though.
The form is good and the lines flow.

Apply what you learned about line weight.
Keep working and you'll be great!
