Uhmm, it's not so bad here. You just have to stay away from the walls. Where spider fangs, koalas
and John Howard await you. Seriously, outside the urban areas is where you can't muck about.
It's pretty Mad Max. You can't go rabbit hunting safely unless you're Chuck Norris.

Re: your artly
Make sure you don't burn yourself out scanning all your studies (scanning eats up precious time).
Digital ones, sure, keep it coming. But I reckon you can get away with scanning milestone studies/pieces.
But you're not me, so you could be the opposite - Just something to keep in the sub-con.

Your boxes, lines and circles - Keep developing them muscles. Elbow and shoulder motion with minimal wrist movement.
Your paintings … keep them wrist and elbows flowing, like butter.

The painting from post #23, it reminds me so so much of one of mine, unfinished because I had the same problem as you - I couldn't make my stone walls look satisfactory... Yours look better anyway!

I promise I'm seriously working on that body sketches. And in the meanwhile, here's some more stuff...

Good start to your sketchbook! The game controller drawings at the very top show that you have the ability to do accurate work and render fairly well if you take your time. So although your figure sketches are rough right now I think that as you get more experience your work will improve quickly.

It's good to do a lot of fast sketches but also do some careful finished pieces once in a while. Rendering is a skill that requires practice too, and it is often a nice ego boost to see a really good finished piece and think "I did that!"

Was reading through the first page and was going to suggest Loomis's figure drawing book, but it seems you have already started. I am currently working through it as well, race you to the end
Your line quality has really improved and so too has your basic concept of proportions in the body, the pose maniac poses look good, however, I wouldnt pay too much attention to the muscles on the poses if you are just copying which line goes where, it looks cool but I dont think the anatomy on pose maniacs is 100% true when it comes to some muscles in certain poses, better to just focus on the general mass's and shapes. Just my opinion.

Greenhouse good sb so far but I recommend you try a few life drawing classes and get books by gurney, bridgman, and figure drawing by micheal hampton

Thanks a lot for stopping by sketchbook! I think you're going in the right direction by tackling the basics and I like that you use strong contrast in your values! Since you already know Loomis maybe you want to check out Burne Hogarth's anatomy books.

I really like your drawings and painting in post #34! You should definitely do more of these 'polished' sketches, as vineris said.
In #36, first sketch, I think the woman's shoulders and arms look a little manly, a bit too wide and muscly I suppose. I might be wrong though. Other than that, nice studies! Only I would be also careful with Posemaniacs as Jaik suggested. I think you could try to draw poses from photos and then using some anatomy reference book carefully place all the muscles around. You would probably learn much more that way.

I think the digital painting in #34 is much better than the ones from beginning of your thread. It still needs some deeper shadows and has some airbrushy parts, but you're on the right way there.
In the latest one there's especially the tree bark too soft. Be brave to paint some contrasts there and may use some texture brushes. I always think that tree bark is fun to paint.
But it's a funny picture =) And it's nice that you add details like different eye colours and those hats!

So keep up the studies and stuff!

I can see you're putting the flow lines idea to good use. That last set of gestures is much better than your ealier ones
They'll get better with time. If you do a set of those every day (only takes about 30 mins), you'll be doing great in no time.
Also your studies are getting better and better. I can already see the improvement from the first page.

I agree with D_art, they look pretty flowy to me, especially compared to your earlier ones. Btw, the shadow exercise was an extension off of a part of Huevaluechroma.com found here. I think that was the one you were talking about, tell me if Im wrong That site is a great introduction to colour theory btw, hurts my head at times, but its good As always, keep up the good work :3

looking good, man, nice sketches. As an advice, try to get looser with the pencil and keep the lines quick and simple, instead scratching over the same zones. I see you are already improving this.

Nice sketchbook man, it seems that you and I are in the same stage of the learning process, I am also studying Vilppu and Loomis =) For the heads, I would recommend a lot Loomis' Drawing the Head and the Hands, it has been really helpful to me. Keep it up man!!
