teehee, silly
My brother in-law is Swedish, he's the same phobias. hawr hawr
Uhmm, it's not so bad here. You just have to stay away from the walls. Where spider fangs, koalas
and John Howard await you. Seriously, outside the urban areas is where you can't muck about.
It's pretty Mad Max. You can't go rabbit hunting safely unless you're Chuck Norris.
Re: your artly
Make sure you don't burn yourself out scanning all your studies (scanning eats up precious time).
Digital ones, sure, keep it coming. But I reckon you can get away with scanning milestone studies/pieces.
But you're not me, so you could be the opposite - Just something to keep in the sub-con.
Your boxes, lines and circles - Keep developing them muscles. Elbow and shoulder motion with minimal wrist movement.
Your paintings … keep them wrist and elbows flowing, like butter.
my main refs:
Gnomon Scott Robertson series. Even reading his interviews I find freeing.
Gmonon Feng Zhu
and yes to Loomis. Googles.
Richard Schmidt for painting related, oh and Gurney.
I dig, 12 & 18.

I really like your sketches of animals! I need to start draw animals as well. And to work on my drawings as often as you. Lazy bum, that's me. :<
The painting from post #23, it reminds me so so much of one of mine, unfinished because I had the same problem as you - I couldn't make my stone walls look satisfactory... Yours look better anyway!![]()
Jcpahl, Sorry for my late answer! Thanks for your good advice and for the book recommendation! I appreciate it!
alizak, thanks a lot!
Vordoburrito, Yeah mate, Mad Max, that’s what I thought! And of course Chuck Norris, the man. He’ll definitely save me from all of those dangers (aus pronounciation) in the bush! But I would very much like to cuddle one of those cute koalas….can I keep it!?![]()
Thanks for the support. I thankfully keep it in mind and take it in consideration. I can already feel pain in my wrist as a result of all the sketching.
Thanks for the refs. That’ll be a great help!
All the best!
Ninsei, thanks a lot! You’re not lazy, I know it! It will be a joy following your sb. isn’t this great, sharing experience and creativity. Keep posting girlfriend!
I promise I'm seriously working on that body sketches. And in the meanwhile, here's some more stuff...

Good start to your sketchbook! The game controller drawings at the very top show that you have the ability to do accurate work and render fairly well if you take your time. So although your figure sketches are rough right now I think that as you get more experience your work will improve quickly.
It's good to do a lot of fast sketches but also do some careful finished pieces once in a while. Rendering is a skill that requires practice too, and it is often a nice ego boost to see a really good finished piece and think "I did that!"![]()

Vineris, Thanks for your kind words! I needed that encouragement really!
I have focused on the basics which is also the hardest thing for me. Here are some of the body studies I made lately. It’s a beginning…![]()
Was reading through the first page and was going to suggest Loomis's figure drawing book, but it seems you have already started. I am currently working through it as well, race you to the end
Your line quality has really improved and so too has your basic concept of proportions in the body, the pose maniac poses look good, however, I wouldnt pay too much attention to the muscles on the poses if you are just copying which line goes where, it looks cool but I dont think the anatomy on pose maniacs is 100% true when it comes to some muscles in certain poses, better to just focus on the general mass's and shapes. Just my opinion.
Keep up the good work and thanks for dropping by my sb

Greenhouse good sb so far but I recommend you try a few life drawing classes and get books by gurney, bridgman, and figure drawing by micheal hampton
Good stuff, keep on trucking brotha.
thanks for visiting my sketchbook
wow, you really think serius about practising, that's good
only thing I can suggest to you is to play more with shadows/lights
keep it up![]()
hey greenhouse! I see your working on the basics. mucho importante! keep rockin!
Thanks a lot for stopping by sketchbook! I think you're going in the right direction by tackling the basics and I like that you use strong contrast in your values! Since you already know Loomis maybe you want to check out Burne Hogarth's anatomy books.
Keep it up!
I really like your drawings and painting in post #34! You should definitely do more of these 'polished' sketches, as vineris said.
In #36, first sketch, I think the woman's shoulders and arms look a little manly, a bit too wide and muscly I suppose. I might be wrong though. Other than that, nice studies! Only I would be also careful with Posemaniacs as Jaik suggested. I think you could try to draw poses from photos and then using some anatomy reference book carefully place all the muscles around. You would probably learn much more that way.
Keep up good work, I will be coming back for more!![]()

Nice SB,I like a lot your atatomy studies and gestures. Just keep your studies up)))
Jaik, I agree about “I dont think the anatomy on pose maniacs is 100% true when it comes to some muscles in certain poses”. I saw it in some of the images, but I thought it was just me. Anyway I liked the study quite much. It was hard but fun! About the Loomis…yeah right, you’re already way ahead! But I’m coming! Thanks for dropping by!
Udonhead, Thanks for the advice!
Jondawo, Thanks! Will do!
Diana6echo, Thanks a lot! I will!
tobzArt, Hey thanks! Sure I will!
mokka, Thanks! I’ve just got the Figure drawing book by Burne Hogarth. There are lots to learn
Ninsei, Aww thanks! It’s feels good to do some more ‘polished’ sometimes!I know, she’s a little bit ‘strongly built’. That training has gone out of control!
Nice advice about the muscles studies. I might try it. You better come back, I need your eyes!
In2eternity, Thanks a lot! I will!
This one is just for fun, and that’s what it’s all about! I have to do some of these in between the ‘monotone studies’, to keep the creativity and the fun going. It already feels better![]()

the studies are coming out very nice! keep drawing!

I think the digital painting in #34 is much better than the ones from beginning of your thread. It still needs some deeper shadows and has some airbrushy parts, but you're on the right way there.
In the latest one there's especially the tree bark too soft. Be brave to paint some contrasts there and may use some texture brushes. I always think that tree bark is fun to paint.
But it's a funny picture =) And it's nice that you add details like different eye colours and those hats!
So keep up the studies and stuff!
D art, thanks a lot, I will!
Valyavande, Thanks, glad you like it! Yeah, I’ll work on that!
A little bit of this and a little bit of that…

Rustveld, thanks a lot! I’m honored having your words on my sb!
Jaik, aww thanks, glad you like it!
The link looks interesting. I’ll check it out tomorrow. Now it’s time for bed, zZzzz
Thanks mate!
Ok, still struggling with these lines. I wonder how long it will take to get them flowing!? Long time I guess!
nice flowing lines on your last sketches![]()
SKETCHBOOK -> http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...=195781&page=9
I can see you're putting the flow lines idea to good use. That last set of gestures is much better than your ealier ones![]()
They'll get better with time. If you do a set of those every day (only takes about 30 mins), you'll be doing great in no time.
Also your studies are getting better and better. I can already see the improvement from the first page.
I agree with D_art, they look pretty flowy to me, especially compared to your earlier ones. Btw, the shadow exercise was an extension off of a part of Huevaluechroma.com found here. I think that was the one you were talking about, tell me if Im wrongThat site is a great introduction to colour theory btw, hurts my head at times, but its good
As always, keep up the good work :3

Greenhouse-- I'm really linking your enviro work. I'm loving the large landscapes with small people. For the picture with the cliffs, may I recommend these as possible options:
Ansel Adams “Frozen Lakes and Cliffs Kaweah Gap

looking good, man, nice sketches. As an advice, try to get looser with the pencil and keep the lines quick and simple, instead scratching over the same zones. I see you are already improving this.
Nice sketchbook man, it seems that you and I are in the same stage of the learning process, I am also studying Vilppu and Loomis =) For the heads, I would recommend a lot Loomis' Drawing the Head and the Hands, it has been really helpful to me. Keep it up man!!
Wow you are really improving. Keep up the good work! I love the colors on your last environment painting![]()
