My sketchup journey

Hi everyone =)

I discovered SketchUp from Ctrl+Paint and decided to study this amazing software because of all the possibilities it provides you with (I would like to use it to understand perspective, lighting, modelling, etc). I'm a beginner, this very afternoon was the first time I used the software and right now I am trying to follow the tutorials google provides.

This is a model I've created by following the basic tutorials. I understand how powerful this tool is, but I find it hard to imagine how I can apply all this to illustration and concept art. Any help?
