Wink CRIT MY ARSE. Murderotic ~ Sketchbook updated 21/4!

Check 'zeee laaazzt paaage for something.. new.

    Hi,

My name is William. I am 18 years old and I live in Sweden. I am art student in the last year of school.

A friend of mine told me i should make a sketchbook here on C.A!
I've spent hours checking out awesome people's art on this website, without even the thought of making my own sketchbook.
It was Murli, my friend and my sensei (also known as DefiledVisions here on C.A) who told me that I should make a sketchbook here.
Please help me on my journey of becoming a good artist. Show me no mercy if you've got crits.

    Thanks in advance everyone!
    Cheers!

    /William

    FIRST

Should I say "FIRST!"? Anyway, first post!

This is I hand I drew today, i used Bridgemans Constructive Anatomy as a reference. I worked on it for and 45~60 minutes I think, terribly sorry for the quality. I hope it's okay!

Anyway! Send me your thoughts, i know this is no "Fast sketch". Tell me what I need to work on, the light, obviously!

    Thanks!

    /William

    Haha, that smiley kickas ass.

So.. on to your sketch. I'd say it's way too early to tell you what to do. Not much can be based on a single hand. So..

Keep us updated with some more studies and the thoughts and challenges that come up for you! Telling you that you need to work more on everything wouldn't really be that helpful at this point

Also, light shouldn't be a worry for you right now Stick to trying to convey the form through lines as bridgman does so good. And really focus on the underlying structure.

Once you render something with pencils then light becomes important.

Yea, well. Just as I thought, I love how bridgeman works, very good sketches. I will do studies often!

edit: So first, learn what the hand actually looks like!

    Thanks!

    Random sketching and zoooooming around!

Yesterday I took some time to do some studies. Mainly on fingers and hands. But also on some girly legs that I found! I'd be thankful for every critique you can give me!

Good start bro, keep 'em coming.

Be careful with the elipse of the can you drew there at bottom left. The edges never meet in a pinch, as it is now it's more the shape of the eye than an actual circle in perspective. It's a good habit to already now get in, don't pinch circles, it ruins the 'roundness' that you want the cylinder to have.

I'd like to see some figures from you. It's cool to see you draw hands but don't get stuck in trying to master them first and then move on to 'the next thing' (I used to do that with anatomy, and it was kind of a mistake ) - combine studies of a certain area with the whole, for instance, you're doing hands now, yes? so do some figures but give extra attention to hands. That way you repeat the details you learn, but get to apply them to the whole. win-win.

Be prepared to have your ass critted all the way to Uranus. Once you get there I expect you to be a mastah! Keep it up.

Thanks! About the cylinder, i didn't give it a fair chance, (know i should've since "every training is good training").

And i'd love to move over to the "full body" studies, or you know.. the manikin-looking one. Like fast-sketches.

About critting me into myanus, I WANT IT. (don't get the wrong idea here, im still straight) I WANT to get better, to every price. I don't take any critics personal, so critt me away!

I'm having issues uploading pictures to this website. This is weird. I don't know where to press to upload a new picture. Is it just "Post Reply" and then.. go for it? Oh well, might as well try.

Okay... *exhales dramaticly...* I did some Loomis studies, horrible were they. Tried to do some studies from Lovecaste.org/draw, the outcome of that was also horrible.
I guess I don't really know the proportions... I haven't really.. ever been interested in painting bodies and figures and such, but lately, it was the lightning struck me or as if God (i'm not religious)
showed himself and told me, "PRAACTIIISE HUUUMAN ANAAAATOOOOOMYYYYYYYY!!!!!!". The hour is late. Might as well do some studies, not that i'm complaining or anything it's just... I don't want to sleep. yet.

This may very well be out of context, but I am horribly bad att posting pictures on this website. Whenever I go in here, it's like i'm glued to all YOUR sketchbooks. Darn ya'll for being so good!

Please crit the shit out of me

Unhappy I've landed in a desert...

    "Sooo smalll!!!!!"

Nah well, I don't know. DefiledVisions and I said that we would paint at least ONE hand each day of the whole 2012. Well. To be honest I painted hands for maybe 2-3 weeks, each day. then it kind of failed. I wouldn't say I failed completely, because I made progress with each hand I painted.

I did this today, i've been having some sort of "can't-paint-because-lack-of-inspiration" illness, (very depressing, yeeeeees indeed...) :c
I'm certain that almost everyone can say that they've had phases were they just.. can't paint. Although it's like that with everything, you need a pause here and there, whether you like it or not. I certainly don't like it, I've been desperate after inspiration and to get the "feeling" back. I haven't done anything else for the past 2 days, except for oogling around, desperately. I haven't been able to do anything 'cause I haven't gotten my daily dose with the paper and the pencil, and whenever I try to do something else the thought of "I NEEEED TOOO PAAAAINT" has been bugging me like some sort of horrible tumour in my brain. I sincerely hope that this dilemma ends soon.

I think i'm heading the right direction regarding conceptart and doing studies more often. I've said to myself:

"Okay. Wake up. Eat something. Check if its sunny. (yes?: Get a tan, because i don't want to be a see-through ghost anymore. Damn I sound like a gweedo or something, a New-jersey-guy like ol' Pauly D From "Jersey Shore".) Do WoW dailies. Play one game of League Of Legends, until i get First Win Of The Day. Oogle around ConceptArt > Get inspiration. Do some studies. Omg I can't forget ze dinneerrr. Do some more studies. Write something here, complaining about my life, like this is a blog or something. Look at the clock, realizing it's 03.25 am. Sleep. And then repeat all this again. Maybe i'll quit wow.

//I'm out. daaaaamn i really have to stop write so formally
makes me look like i'm depressed or something which i'm not.

DefiledVisions - Where are youuuuu seeeeenseeeeeei?????? I hope you're home soon.

Btw, picture was made in SAI, for some reason i like it.
im pretty happy with the thumb, although the rest is just one word. flat.

Btw, IF SOMEBODY SEES THIS, currently i'm pretty forever alone here. Could someone tell me if it's possible to have a custom picture on the thread, as everyone else has that but I don't? I've seen people change it, so you must be able to set a picture even if you've already started the thread. Please help me. Nooobiiii

AND ALSO, IF YOU SEE THIS AS WELL, are you able to change the name of the sketchbook thread? "Murderotics Sketchbook" is darn boring, wakes no interest what so ever.

Found it. I guess i'm not that noobiii anymore, how does it feeeeeel!?

@Zidhartha : Thank you very much! I'm painting so much at the moment, i can barely believe it myself, and the inspiration and motivation from people on this website is truly helping me! I don't know what i would've done without C.A, for real. Thanks again!

Yes indeed, it's a jellyfish, i do, to be honest, ALOT of jellyfishes. They are quite interesting if you ask me, so many different types!

Wow! Amazing jellyfish! In many pictures you have painted light beautifully, at the dark ones mostly.

Also about the skin it seems that in your self portrait you are doing better already. Shadows look good in this one as well.

The mountain wallpaper looks nice too.

About the anatomy drawings, I don't really know what to comment as I am not an expert... I guess with practise you'll get better, I try to remember that cause sometimes I get really bored of the studies myself.

@LotusFleur: Thank you very much! I'm pretty happy with the jellyfish, i do quite many to be honest. My photoshop has been struggling, therefor i haven't really worked in a while. I've got it working a few days ago though. I'm trying to do everyday studies :-)
