just showing where I am in figure drawing. Here's a 10 minute focusing on proportions. Measuring took a while so you can't say much for the rendering or defining of certain points in the piece. the left arm seems too long but it really was that long. I THINK!

-edit! THERE'S NO WAY HER ARM COULD BE THAT LONG!... LOL! Must pay closer attention.

amazing portrait studies! how much do you draw everyday? you also have a great sense of color!

wutangclam, thanks man! GOT TO GET BETTTTTER! I paint at least 5 hours a day. I have been maintaining this schedule for about half a year now. I've realllllly improved. Just remember everyone learns differently and at different speeds. How fast you move depends on how good of questions you are asking when analyzing and painting so you can better understand how the fundamentals work. I need to be asking myself better questions! We got this man, keep up the hard work.

Great portraits. Extremely realistic! As for that 10 minute figure study, I think you may have made her arms too long (though that might be because you were rushed), but other than that it's damn nice.

1 hr. 45 minutes, life drawing. I need to be doing longer drawings (or I just need to speed up? I guess speed is a thing that shouldn't come first. Speed will come with experience. perhaps. I should make a conscious effort to move faster perhaps though..)! gogogogo

you have some nice traditional/digital stuff ^^ your painting skills are good
but you have some problems with anatomy, do more studies!

The girl portrait has some problems for me...If you do a portrait from imagination you have to choose if doing it in a particular style, or follow the anatomy perfectly, because it seems a bit strange with the proportions

thanks to both of you, you are both right. I wanted to make the face more distinguished, not 5 eyes wide and an eye in-between... I can do that and see what it looks like, but good job catching on. I was thinking of the norn class from gw2 and seeing how it would come out. it came out weird. will correct it to normal human proportions.

I need to really step it up tomorrow in adjusting everything... and not relying on crutch devices such as loosing details in the hair by merging it with the background. will work on hair tomorrow as i had 0 time to paint today. As you all can see I'm trying to get feedback by posting about on this personal piece 'cause i'm wanting to see what the main problems i'm having are. If anyone wants to do a paint over I'd LOVE to see that kind of critique! Please show me my errors.

SO yup... working on a crappy fan art piece now... haha.. all still from imagination


Notes: her left side of her face needs to be fixed... in a lot of ways. The nose needs to be showing form better..good lighting needs to be added still... the lighting sucks...The colors are too plain. AND THE FREAKING HAIR NEEDS TO BE RENDERED. UGH, hate rendering hair. her arm with the rope is too long in relation to the other. Background still needs to be defined so I'm not painting on white...

Both are about 30-40 minutes long and are from life. Yes, my mom is that awesome. She sits for me to draw her! PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

A little less than 2 hours. Sargent study! Spent a little more after this progress shot to fix the light fuzzy shape above the right eye where my dark pattern should reside. also darkened the pattern at the top right of the forehead where there already is a shadow pattern.

Thanks and no problem. I love trying to help. Loved that you are copying your bridgeman and Loomis and i think some vandoerpoel(or however you spell his name!). Just try and think of what they are teaching and try to understand what you are drawing. I have this problem. along with everyone else. Once you have understood these concepts you can simplify so that others can make sense of of what they are actually seeing. Remember, the artist simplifies so that it can be better understood. The ordinary person complicates!

So, for those who don't know about Dan Warren's mentorship live stream going on right now on Sunday's at random times, now's your chance to join! The class focuses on character concepts. For the final character (the one we currently are on right now!) is Morganne from the Arthurian tales. She's evil, represents death but gives life to the successor (i forget his name) that is bound to take the throne of Arthur. She is also a sorceress and is of nobility.

What I'm stuck on right now is the composition and pose. If you guys can help me out picking one that looks best it would be MUUUUUUUUUUUCH appreciated. Here they are! (these are the 2 that I liked and have somewhat fleshed out)

Yeah, I think you are right, the pole is a bit too close to the edge. Kind of leads the viewer off the page. Nice catch. Now that I look at it it looks like a freaking arrow pointing off the page! ... MUST COME UP WITH A SOLUTION!
