Why is it that GIFs are so appealing?

Personally I love them because they're the perfect bite-sized entertainment. You just get the money shot, no filler. Add to that that the humour usually doesn't require much thought, and you get the junk food of the internet.

I thought it'd be nice to have a thread where people can post their own or their favorite GIFs. I know there are quite a few GIFs in the Cheer Me Up Thread, but this way we won't have to sift through things that aren't GIFs, and as a consequense, not cool.

So I guess I'll start by posting some of mine.

I absolutely see your point, ArtZealot, and it was something I considered before making the thread.
As I stated in the first post, the point is that with a devoted GIF-thread, you wouldn't actually need to search the Cheer Me Up Thread for them.
Now, one could argue "Why not a devoted LOLcatz thread then? Why not a youtube thread? A motivational quote thread?"
Good question. I just love GIFs.

EDIT: If it's that bad to have a GIF-thread, an admin could just delete the whole thing. Just thought it would be good fun, but I apologize if I'm the only one to feel this way.

Gifs are fun because they capture the essence of the funny moments. and you can keep viewing it over and over observing it without having to hit play or rewind to a specific time.
