Hey this is really cool. i love the pencil sketches most, so much energy comes through, not sure why. perhaps it's how you use the pencil, it creates like very intricate textures in which i can "read" stuff (does this make ANY sense?) In your photoshop work it's a bit more polished, some guys out there really use textures to some magnificent effect in digital, in some of the latest stuff it looks like your going this way anyway so great! thanks!

    BoxOfSecrets - Thank you!

Kevin - Thank you much! I'm finally feeling like I'm improving there (and overall I guess)

    Whirly - Thanks man! Appreciated.

Fabriceb - Thank you! I still love my graphite! There definitely is a life to it. I think I start out with that when I'm working digitally but I lose it somewhere along the way and it gets a little rigid... have to focus on that.

Something different for today ... been pretty sick the last few days and hardly touched a tablet or sketchbook yesterday. Got a head study in today + doodled a face for the pirate guy.

Small haul today - still feel like crap - top row were timed (15 minutes) from reference. Tried doing them all without any line work and was surprised that they didn't turn out worse.

First stab at digital life drawing - about an hour of fail in this one - really think I screwed myself with a weird lighting set up but still :/ . And a sketch from something I just picked back up from a few months ago.

Need to get back to my head challenge soon here... in the meantime here's something I've been doodling on for the last day or two - just trying to apply some of my studies. But I couldn't find a hood that really had the shape I wanted and was posed correctly so I sort of had to wing it on this and fabric folds are a weakness for sure.

Still digging those headstudies! When I look at that digital life drawing you did, it feels as if the nose and the cheek might be the weakest point. The top of the nose is too even and almost formless, which makes it lose it's character. Really nice portrait that you've got going on now, can't wait to see it finished. I acctually like the fabric folds! Sue me!

Bjulvar - Thank you! Yeah that thing turned out kind of a mess. I want to blame the mistakes on lighting issues but it all falls back on me anyway. I'll take another stab at that again soon and more frequently.

Quinn - Thanks dude! Hoping to hop on the current one. I've got some sketches going for it that I like.

Hyunjae - Thanks! Need to get back after those.

    Joakim - Thanks!

So here's how the hooded lady came out. I wasn't sure at all what to do with the hands and when I shot some quick reference for them with a similar light setup, it just felt like a crappy study. So I just went back to the drawing board and came up with this inky finger thing. Critiques and comments always welcome and appreciated

Trying out Advanced mode to remedy the double post problem.

A little bit of work on this sketch before bed... not sure what it is or where it's going other than that it's a dude cruising along, raging along... for some reason in sci fi gear... for some reason in a river valley of some sort.

Edit: Shifting over to Imgur.com - we'll see how it goes. Images on this post should reflect the update.

My final for the post-apocalyptic Santa CHOW. I wanted my guy to be more of a figurative refugee Santa in a universe like "The Road".

Messing around with costumes/colors/designs for the Character Forge thing from last post. I didn't intend to make them as detailed but these were a lot of fun to work on.

A few more costume iterations and some more pose roughs and a comp thumb.

Almost forgot - finally got around to cleaning up this one from a few months ago. I'm much happier with it now.
