ltplissken- Thx so much man, means a lot. I totally agree with you about my proportions, and I will/have started to work really hard on them. I will work more traditionally too but I'm still going to use digital sometimes as somethings are easier to study with it, I hope you understand
Zikes- Thx a lot man. Yep I always check out ctrlpaint and I know my edges suck haha but I normally don't really try to get them accurate as I'm normally trying to focus on different aspects, but I will try and pay more attention to them when I get more comfortable with everything else
Lakai- Thx a lot man, and yet I'll try and push some personal stuff out when I feel confident enough with the basics

Okay, small update, kinda finished that value study and some sketch crap, oh and possibly the worst self portrait ever, seriously, I got the features pathetically out of proportion and everythings distorted haha

Some sketches I did for my study group, crappy but I wanted to upload something haha. Been doing lots of crappy sketchy stuff over the past week to try and get a better understanding of proportions, foreshortening and construction and although they look like shit I've learned a lot

On these animals, very cool understanding of shapes and forms,
that’s the way you should do all your studies. Very good job.
We can erect a tent now behind that next mountain and celebrate.
Wine and beer and camp fire, let’s just relax a bit, and then do
some more studies and have some more fun.

Wow its great that you do so many updates! I noticed some of your studys of blocks arent very well grounded, they seem to be floating. Make sure to really watch what happens with shadow when they contact the surface. Nice maya stuff, i just got it, opened it and was overwelmed O.o hopefully i get over it soon. Keep posting!

Raymond Luk- Thx a lot man, and ye I'll try and do more value stuff
LtPlissken- Thx a lot man, I think them kind of studies are good for understanding the overall bone structure but when going for more specific forms they wouldn't work so well, and sorry for any mistakes I'm really tired haha
Wingal- Thx , the cubes without cast shadows though were just when I was being lazy haha

Heres a bit of a fail self portrait, kind of looks like me but definitely not happy with how it's turning out so I'll just scrap it and make it a filler update. BTW haven't been updating lately because I've been really busy/lazy and most of the drawings I've been doing have been scribbles just trying to solve some problems I have in my more refined stuff

Thx for liking that post Ray, although that SP sucks haha. Heres some random stuff, the crazy self portrait thing was just a mess about, not meant as anything serious just playing with watercolour brushes and being generally crazy haha

The watercolor brush sp is very good, have nice values,
you just tighten up and fix the edges, and it will turn out even greater.
House perspective study is a beast, I like that approach. Did you
used some software to draw the structures, like AtuoCad or 3dMax?
I like the improvements and the variety of your latest postings.

The sculpture (alexander?) is reading quite well now, but still feels blurry, go over with a harder brush later
Your perspective construction is kickass! Although the primary light source seems out of place :0 (moon's shining behind the houses, but they're lighted on the right side)
Since you've got all your perspective down, you can try doing different mood lighting conditions xD Was in one of feng's video's somewhere, and I saw your 3 cubes in a previous post, now do material studies with em like in http://youtu.be/oFihx5z2uI0?t=2m13s
Looking forward to some studies, good luck

    Yemi775- Thx man

LtPlissken- Thx a lot man, and nope never used any 3d software for the house study, just drew some perspective guidelines in pencil and went from there

Raymond Luk- Thx man, and yep I really started to realize how much my edges suck lately haha, gonna try working on them . Thx for the compliment on the house , for the lighting used on the right I was using a different light source, If you look at some of the edges of the structures the moon is providing a rim to pull them off of the background . Will try some material and mood studies and thx a lot for the link some great reference in there.

Wooh, big update, Most stuff was done during the few days before Christmas, been being lazy since though . Any advice on how to use acrylics anyone, really hard to control, as you can see in one of my posts is the start of some acrylic thingy. Master study sucks haha but oh well you fail then you learn I guess. Think I'm gonna do another enviro as a personal piece because I learned loads on lighting and materials from studies and watching workshops etc, kinda wanna really push this one as I think the last one sucks now

Watch the perspective on those cubes. Look at the parallels specifically. The cube in the last one and the rectangle thing on the previous both are a bit wonky. Id draw some perspective lines over it to get a feel for what im talking about. Maybe do some cubes in space then try another study. Also alot of the shapes still dont have solid grounding. They are floating off the bottom. Try to pay more attention to the shadows and where they begin and are darkest.

I would not know anything to say about acrylics, except that you should paint and paint with
the medium, and I suppose that after the mileage would come in role, and you would get more
the hang of it. And try to find some youtube acrylic paint tutorials. You’ve cracked a nice way
to brake down the skull structure and the lines and shapes in general. Even if you say that
you were lazy from Christmas, you did made a huge steps toward success. Your never say die
attitude has brought you to another level, understanding more values and shapes and approach
to art in general. Sentimentally confused I am, and happy that you got so much better. Keep
on combing the forest deer's fur, and I wish you a happy new year and merry Christmas.

Ahh, what a delight coming back to this sketchbook after quite a long time Will, you're definitely on a good track now

Material ball is very sharp and crisp. Also great variety of portraits, seems to be a good exercise. I like it xD
For the ear, it has definitely improved and isn't so smudgey anymore

Remember to alternate hard round brush with soft brush :0 The edges are a tad blurry -- you may find better results making it hard
    Keep at it

Raymond Luk- Thanks man , and you're totally right about the edges on the ear, gonna really work on my edges thx

Heres a shit looking study I did from today, but I thought I'd upload it because I learned so much about controlling values (not that the study shows that haha) but I really feel I've pushed though a new door with this one

Very solid sketchbook, you show some great form simplification here and there, and youhave n eye for the proportions aswell.
Just stick to your practice, and you'll be greaat sooner than later.

Yay, finally have University interviews over, and got accepted by them all. Also the last interview I went to the course looked amazing. They have a room full of Cintiqs and another room full of super high power computers, plus there are only 15-20 people on each year so will be able to have more 1 to 1 time with tutors, literally can't wait to go now . Anyways, heres some still life stuff. the knife one was to practice using the pen tool for edge control and the other was for transparency. I'm finding rounded forms really hard because I want to block in the correct values but I don't wanna over blend and kill the form. Also don't know how to go about texture such as on the pears, guess I'll watch someone else do it and see if I can learn anything from that.

Two more still life practices from today. The apple one was made of plastic and the other one is from life. It is a lot more informative to me to do these from life but I just wish there was a greyscale button haha
