Thumbs and 'final' thumbnail for new school assigment.

For the assigment we had to go sketch the local mall, find an interesting composition, in which we'll have to design an environment set in an zombie-infested world.

    will123will Thanks.

alizak Don't expect areas crawling with zombies, we have to capture a hideout of a group of people, rather than just a bunch of zombies.

This weeks speedpainting off the speedpainting class. This time it was only like 35-40min because it took forever to agree on a subjectmatter. (I know, a stranded ship in the desert is kinda lame but I did not come up with it)

Wow, the two newer ones shows a lot of improvement! I like the perspective in the "factory" one, nice foreground element and colors as well!
Keep working on your perspective, it´s getting better and better!

How about trying different brushes or brush sizes.
Your sketches seem to be dominated by one rather big round hard edged brush.
It looks better when your brush gets either bigger nd more blurry in the background or smaller (and maybe blurry).

shockowaffel Thanks for the advice but for now I'll stick to using the one brush I like, I feel like I'm learing more this way than getting caught up in switching brushes all the time.
Also about the blurry brushes, alot of people, including my teachers at school, don't recommend using soft brushes because it usually ends up in undefined, blurry paintings.

Some progress on my school assigment, mainly the background still need alot of cleaning up and then more details ofcourse.

Another speedpaint, the reason I'm doing quite a few of these is because a bunch of my classmates and I created a facebook group where we try to post one speedpaint/ day to ensure we practise as much as possible.

Some sketches from during class and first attempt to get a decent linedrawing in photoshop. Good thing about making lineart in photoshop for me is that I'm really forced to consider each line I make otherwise it becomes messy.:

First of all, really love the finished school assignment, definitely your best piece so far, now for some critique. I would say in some of your paintings the very darkest parts are maybe slightly to dark as they are almost going on black. Another thing would be that I think you should bring your enviro's to a more finished look as I can see you can with your school assigned piece. You should really knuckle down on the loomis book as I can see your already doing and I can see a lot of progress in all your work so far, keep it up.

will123will Thanks man. Ye I have a tendancy to go too black, I just throw some adjustment layers on it at the end to fix it but I should try to avoid doing it in the first place. And I'm going to try push more enviro's to a more finished state now because I was quite supprised how far I already got the assigment at. Going to focus a bit more on studies again and in between just work on one longer piece rather than quick paint, just getting but bored with quick ones, and ofcourse they aren't as pretty.

    WRappiii Thanks, much appreciated.

Class assignment today, bit different than usual, pixelart, create game resources for a game we'll be programming in a couple of weeks (the background on spritesheets is usually magenta but I wont let you go through the horror of watching that :p) :
