Cool perspective thumbnails and other studies! It's great to see that you are still so dedicated.

What I was gonna suggest is that, particular for staircases, see if you can't start with a big block and then carve the stairs out of that via cross-sections. I can maybe upload an example if my explanation isn't clear.

Anyhow, keep up the hard work! I'll check back on your stuff again later too.

Hey syrella, thanks I think i know what you mean about the staircase but if you do have an example laying around it would be cool to see it! My stairs are very wonky since they are all different bloody sizes!

OK, here are some examples of what I mean. Start with a big block in whatever perspective you want (isometric, one-point, two-point). Figure out where you want the stairs to start and end.

You can then subdivide the other faces of the block into equal little sections depending on where you want your stairs to go such that you end up with columns and rows of equal widths. You can then "carve" the stairs out like that. To subdivide, remember that you can take the diagonal from both corners of the object's face. The place where they intersect is always the midpoint.

Also, a little shortcut that I discovered is that you can take advantage of the fact that staircases can be simplified into "ramps" (see the photograph I linked). It will help in two ways - a) less things to measure out and b) it can serve as a visual reminder for how deep or wide you want your staircase.

You are absolutely right Diarum. I was trying to use the ref less and less as I did more but I definitely need to do straight from memory and THEN correct, until I get it right. I am slowly memorising the proportions. Should have some new stuff to post soon, and on that subject UPDATE YOUR SKETCHBOOK man!!

awe man, idk if you would want to see those updates. I am pretty sure I've lost of a lot of knowledge, I stopped drawing for a while and just started to pick it back up again. Though I have been slowly regaining some of that lost knowledge. Like I was having some problems with my deltoids but I kinda worked out what was wrong. Then I opened my loomis book that I got from amazon a while ago, and have done a couple of arm studies, mostly memory. But many tomorrow I will upload a page or two!

Thanks Steph n Richi!! Good to know you guys are noticing improvement. Started this SB around Christmas time and it nearing that time again so I need to step up my game so my last pages are better than my first!!

Im working through the Charles Hu DVD to supplement my Loomis study and it is really excellent I definitely recommend it.
