    IOW #14 - Trojan Horse

Illustration of the Week #14: Trojan Horse

This is a two week topic.

    Topic
This weeks topic is Trojan Horse (thanks to Blitz for the topic suggestion!). I'm going to restrict this topic by making you stick true to the original story (so no switching time periods or anything). You are, however, free to show anything you'd like that relates to the horse, whether it be the horse being built, being brought into the gates, a viewpoint from within the horse, etc.

    Deadline
The deadline is Sunday 8th of January, 23:59 GMT

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday so far, and can relax for a few evenings long enough to knock out a killer illustration for the challenge

had some free time so i thought why not . This will probably change quite a bit by the end, but the thread was looking pretty dead for a 2 week brief, so i thought a bit of colour might get things going here

I love the sense of scale in the 1st sketch, and the arch composition of the 2nd... I can't wait to see how it turns out

Thanks kitten poker, I was thinking the same

Littlemonsters: I like the way you are dealing with construction of the horse. I think you could make it more dynamic though. The front on veiw isn't that exciting and if it was looming over us that would really help. Also the way that cloud follows up the neck is an odd composition

Awseome, thank you. I was about to fire up photoshop! I agree about the cloud thing, was waiting to see if anyone would mention it. I'll try some stuff out on the horse. I also am planning on adding figures who are pulling it towards the camera, hopefully will make the image more interesting.

Just a quick idea for an interior of the horse.

Still working out the kinks in my new camera...

    Nice entries so far!

    grenogs interesting idea =)

GEB id probably choose first one, shows a lot. I like the camera angle in 2nd tho, your pick, both is great

littlemonsters i agree with GEB it needs more action. And yea, add those figures, and horses and what not to drag it, make them really dynamic, will look awesome! A 3/4th view of the horse would have worked as well.

thanks tobzart, much appretiated. though interesting is an interesting comment, lol. But dont worry about niceties with me. we're all here to learn so be brutal, personally i think to many niceties are just counter productive.

geb i like the lighting your 2nd image, but your 1st image has more wow factor. I think if you could meld the two together somehow, you could be on a winner there.
littlemonsters looking good, really liking the angle you have there, but i think you need to lengthen the horses legs, remember, troy was a great city owned by a great civilisation, so this horse would have to be pretty impressive in order for them to take it into their city.
hemlock-key i like the idea, a bit of thinking out of the box or in the box, depending on your view point. looking forward to see how you develope this.
tobzart another alternative view point, again looking forward to seeing this finished

Wasn't planning to go this route, but quite like the effect, so i may experiment a little bit more in future
