BEAUTIFUL! I love that first pic A LOT. The brush strokes in your figure drawing just, so nice! I hope to see more from you!
Trying to learn how to critique art. I hope I don't confuse anyone.
Oh yeah, if you got some time, mind critiquing my art? http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...d.php?t=234050

This first colour piece is really nice, a little flashy but nice. ^^

A thing that bothers me just a little would be the clouds.
There are too many layers in the clouds which makes them look at unease, nervous, not calm. Maybe it's not even the layers but the small edged contours.
I hope you get my point. ^^°

Compositionally or logically, if she's looking at the ship, she should propably turn around. Alle the lines in the clouds and her hair swing to the right, but dont reach the ship. They just vanish to the horizon left to the ship. It gives me the feeling like there should be something.

I really like the water and the grass. Keep it up.

toastysaurus, thanks. This picture is my first fully finished work. I'll try to update my sketchbook as often as possible.

shockowaffel, Thank's a lot for your feadback. About clouds, I think that I got your idea. I'm thinking to make them more simple. It's really difficult to draw clouds and maybe it's just to early for me to draw clouds.
And about girl position: you're right. But I really wanted to draw her face, so... I desided that maybe she just saw the ship and now turned with happy face.

But I really didn't understand about lines. I'm absolutely beginner in composition

Those clouds in the first drawing are beautiful, good composition too Keep on doing them figure drawings, great practice. Have you studied the musculature of the human body before? If not I recommend doing that, It's great understanding how everything looks underneath the skin. For light and so on.

Anyways, it's a nice sketchbook you got here keep on updating.

    Thanks telohs )
No, I didnt study musculature of the human body before. But it's going to be my next step after I'll finish with basic understanding of human proportions. I discovered for myself a wonderful book: Andrew Loomis. Figure Drawing for All it's Worth. I hope it will help me a lot

telohs, no i didn't start with human musculature yet. It's going to be next step. First I want to understand basic principles of human body, like shape and proportions

    So, new update.
There were a lot of holiday and of course not so much time for drawing.
All that I have it's my Morning spirit green monster. He's actually isn't finished. I'm going to delete lines in future.
And also I continue with figure practice

Awesome stuff! I like your first picture as well... anything with bright colors is a winner in my book

I'm jealous of your figure studies as well, you're inspiring me to go draw some more, I've been lazy with them the last couple days...

    Keep it up!

ChristianWeeks, i'm glad that my sketches are inspiring you do draw more. Will work more )

And some new figure drawing studies. I found that draw by hand is much easier for me that with tablet. So, maybe I must open Photoshop more often

    Trixtar, thanks )))

I was thinking about my drawing skills and suddenly I found out that I have HUGE problems with understanding lights and shadows. So now I'm more focused on trying to draw normal ball. It's difficult, really difficult for me. I'm still not happy with them. Maybe somebody can help me with some advices?

Usually I never fixing mistakes in my work. I prefer to remember them and not use in future. But not this time. This time I decided that I can do better so I redraw my last sketch with woman.
I tried to fix obvious mistakes and I think that she looks better but I fill that there are a lot more mistakes.
So now I hope to hear you opinion: what should I fix?

Hey Minko! Thanks so much for all your help over on my SB.

Your stuff is really great! You have a wonderful grasp of form and your costume designs are really interesting - simple without being even a little boring. I love your style!

    Keep up the great work!

Hey, thanks for your cmt on my sb.
You have great sb here. Your figure study is awesome. Far more interesting than mine . I like the updates of the last piece. It's so much better. But i think the flow of those legs on the 3rd update is not as good as the 2nd update (just on my opinion )

You have a wonderfull style in your paintings!! I am looking for that painterly feel
Your figures are very good too!

For your last pic, the transition at the legs between animal and human was a bit difficult I guess. It looks good the way it's now. How about adding some of the stuff you used for the clothing on that spear? I mean that feather like looking material, sorry I don't get the name of that specific cloth right now. Not native english

Uhm, im sorry my browser hid the second page it seems The stuff above is refering to the first page..

Looking at these works I can say you sure got better over time

Some very nice stuff here, including that last portrait and those arm studies. You have a lot of potential with your colours. Try to look for different hues in your colour studies, if you observe well enough under the right settings, you'll find purples and greens and other completely unexpected colours on skin tones etc which can really help push a 3D form for your subject matter.
