Hi!

Here's a new one from me. Probably the last one of the year but the first of many to come made (for the most part) with the oh-so-painterly but messy smudge tool.

To do what most people try and do with teeth, claws, explosions, big guns and dragons...
And you do it all and more with just a dead tree and some clouds.

Pavel Sokov: I use custom made brushes for both the brush tool and the smudge tool, although different ones for each. If you want to have some of the colour variation you see in these you also have to 'dirten' the canvas during the earlier stages, using filters or colour overlays. The best way to go about finding something that you like is still to play around with your tools, over time you are bound to find something out that no one could have taught you.
