Love what I am seeing, and the studies are especially well done ( I really want a fortune cookie right now). I need to do some studies myself now after seeing this sketchbook.

    Thanks everyone, much appreciated.

Blueflies- Thank you, that's very encouraging!

Here are a few more studies. Two from life and one Frazetta master copy.

Here's a little break down of my observations.

Despite how easy Frazetta made it look, you can tell he put a lot thought into the composition and how each element contributes to the drama. I especially like how he simplified and grouped shadow values. I'm sure this technique was honed by working with just black and white.

Ah, I remember your work from CGHub. Your colours and loose brush work are really inspiring - it reminds me that my work is way too tight and a bit boring. The still life studies are just gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

    Thanks everyone!

Here's a quick environment. This time I tried starting from a photo. I think it made the process faster, however I feel the resulting composition is a little arbitrary design wise.

I'm really amazed not only how well your environments are painted but the unity in each illustration and how the characters seem to belong with in these environments.

    Thanks folks!

Here's a 20-30min photo study. I am trying to gain more control of my brush strokes, so that I am not so messy. The focus here is on hard and soft edges, and on simplifying value shapes.

Of course I suppose this is much easier when the subject is fully realized in front of you. It's much more difficult when drawing from the vagueness of imagination.

Love LOVE your sketchbook and work. All of your environments have great mood, composition, and line quality!

Just as a personal preference, I wish there was a little bit more detail or different texture use in the certain areas of your paintings to give a point of focus. Like in your tree drawing, it's an awesome drawing but the texture is kind of the same throughout and ends up flattening it out in some areas (like the foreground rocks).

Depends on what your going for though! Nice sketchbook
