Beautiful stuff, very inspirational, and i like what you said about not being jammed into a
corner of being a certain type of artist.
i would put it simply to as, its great that you can and should be stretching yourself as broadly with art and the things you love in life never limiting yourself,
then when it comes to work i guess its all up to where you find the employment and thats what you do, more skill sets mean more opportunites??
i'm just trying to adleast scrap towards the level that your at now and then i'll only start
worrying about art jobs.
keep posting this stuff its epic!!!

What's up Lane! Wow your work is amazing. The loose brush strokes are done masterfully. Looking forward to seeing more of your work! I feel the same way about getting pulled away to do different things. My mind can't stay still either. Congrats on a solid sketchbook.
your stuff is awesome, some great characters, very inspiring.

oh wowGreat paintings!
Lovely start. I am envious of your texture brush use.
Well Lane, the beautiful part of all the things you love is that they're so close to one another that it couldn't be much of a switch. In general as long as you keep sticking to making such nice pieces I'm sure you can accomplish what ever you want in any field. Concept art, illustration, sculpting, fine arts. They're all just different styles using different tools. Just keep figuring out more about life, as your talent will transfer through mediums.
Wonderful artwork, keep it up.![]()
wonderfull start!! first illustration is kickass and love the eaten apple xP

Wowsers!
nice start![]()
Strong body of work. I'm not a fan of violence but the first piece has a strong dynamic composition. I don't think you'll be a master of none since all of those talents are part of the same whole and well make you a more well rounded artist in your understanding. That will play into the application of any art you do really.
wicked stuff man, the first illustration is my favorite so far.
Very cool stuff here mate. Those apple studies are extremely good. Keep pumping those awesome colours out.
Thanks for the motivating words!
Here's something I've worked on and off of for a month. Not entirely satisfied, but ill pretend its finished.

beautiful stuff. 5*s!
the only advice i can give career-wise is to maybe figure out your "temperament." by that i mean the pace you like to work on, how many different things you want to do at the same time, how tightly or loosely you want to finish stuff, and the kinds of teams or people interactions you want to have. as far as ability goes, it looks like you have a ton of it already, so i don't think it's a question of that.
i guess the corollary to that is to figure out what you can deal with as far as personal vs. commercial work. for me, i've chosen to keep some kinds of artwork like most of my scupture, etc. more "fine art" or more "personal" and i don't really mind doing digital painting or sketchwork for money. maybe there's some things you really want to do just for yourself and don't want outside art direction, deadlines, etc. interfering with.
i don't know... that's just my two cents. i'm sure you'll do really well at it.

About the corner... if you're looking to make art for money (don't know if you already do), I think it's best to find one.
I don't have any experience in the field, but generally specialists are preferred for specialized work.
I'm just a beginner hobby artist and I'm dabbling in whatever strikes my fancy at the given moment. I see nothing wrong with that, but I'm just in it for fun (for the time being, at least).
Keep in mind that your skill is far beyond mine and you probably know much more about the industry. Thought I'd share my thoughts anyway.
ccsears- thanks! that's some sound advice.
isokarhu- thank you! Yea, I've heard that the large companies are more interested specialists. That's why I feel the need to get some sort of focus.
I'm going to start 2012 with another study from life! I will demand much more from myself this year.
Hi. I don't really know anything about technology. How did you make these? How are these like Sketches and not completed paintings? Do you ever sketch on paper?
Hope you don't mind me asking this. I am really curious. Possibly clueless. I like your girl character. I see a theme of an innocent girl exploring dark jungles.
Level 4 Gladiator: Meridiani
Awesome bounce light. I love the colors!
Great SB. Your work has such amazing colors! Do you really see all those colors like that? I've found the more color studies I do, the more colors I see, is it the same for you?
This is absolutely gorgeous. Love your colors and strokes. Beautiful
Amazing brushstrokes and motion! I love the painting in #18. There's so much expressed in the lighting and subtle facial features. Also amazing how many colors you've managed to incorporate into those vibrant studies. I'd say there's no need to box yourself in when you can show skill in all of those areas.
Your strokes and values are great man.
I love your approach on cartoonish characters, detailed but still not missing the point.
Keep up
