Care - Nice job on that, especially the hand. I also like how the fabric on the right came out, especially with the
added texture. My only advice to you would be to focus on form before adding any surface detail. I am getting
the impression that you are getting caught up in detail before you have all of your structure down. Structure should
    always come first.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sean - First two are, I believe, by an artist named Leonardo Gasser. Last two are by, you guessed it, J.W.
Waterhouse. Would it be okay for me to post a few more images? You got me all excited for paintings and I ended
up looking through my master artist folder getting all inspired and stuff.... *sob*

    Apologies in advance for that.

thanks for the comments very helpful and spot on. actually i just got the values wrong on the highlight derp*

Definetly will concentrate on the form first from now on before going on to detailing.

SO whats with these master paintings anyway do we like copy them piece for piece, how many hours for each one?

    yea! post more realism

    Here we go,

Edges studies finished! I am v proud of this studies despite some issues with proportion, and the values i think the edges are pretty good.

    Whats next???

Defintely will try and do the biblis too at some point!

excellent critique and right on all points .... it was going so well i got a bit cocky. yea i can see it now, and i think i could see it then but i just ignored it. i will try harder!

i spent three hours on each i try and stick to a regime every day even though i tend to fail to hit 8 hours on the weekends, i nearly always do 2 hours every day. definetly helps

Ok so flipping the canvas every 15mins with biblis no problem lol this is how i learnt to draw *grin

how long do i spend on this? (6hrs?)

EDIT: I gotta be honest, those edges studies were revolutionary! but i hated last last pic its so bleh.

Hey Care, just wanted to say good job on your latest picture! I can definitely see improvement and you are getting
better and better at soft blending. Nice!

Value-wise I think it's pretty much spot on and Sean covered all the edges that need some work. The only crit I can
give is to say that proportionally, your image is quite off from the original. (see attached image) Next time,
I would advise you to be a little more careful as to where you place everything. If it helps, you might want to try
using the grid feature in Photoshop to aid you in getting correct placement.

Rothko master study... lol. I shouldn't laugh but I can't help it.

Biblis will be a good one to study though. Knock out anatomy and rendering with one pic.

Care - Hope you have a good break.

Sean - That sounds great actually. Will start a bit later 'cause I'm gonna be busy for the next few days. Thanks.

I kind of wanted to do the Vermeer pic though.

Thanks Sean, I still probably have three more weeks of renos to do, but it's coming along. I'll definitely work on setting up a sketchbook (all I have done for a few weeks now is sketchbook work because of the house)

Good luck with the personal work man, It's been awesome having your guidance and all the time you've dedicated to helping further our progress. If you ever decide to start up again let me know and I'll be there. Thanks again Sean, tc.

KC that looks great. From a distance it looked just like the picture except for the finger closest to us.
