I didn't think the knights gun was in perspective so did a quick paint over to try and fix it!

You should take some reference shots of your hands for your soldier knight, it'll make your life a lot easier.
Good job on the amount of studies you have been doing!

I'm liking where this book is going. Great practice of blind contour. I enjoy your studies also.

    hey : )
    great updates!!
watch out for your colors though
try using less saturated colors for lighter places
and more saturated colors for shades
that way the painting would look cleaner : )
trying to learn that myself too D:
    keep up the good work!!

Nice updates man, some real dedication going on here. One suggestion though, is to take your time, a lot of these seem like you are doing them rather quickly, and thats important, speed is always good, but you should even it out with some slow meticulous practice and just soldier on through it. You will see an improvement on what you can do in a shorter amount of time after you practice that.

Some really good studies here! You have nice brushwork, and are starting to get a good handle on values and form. Your colours are a bit dull at the moment, though. Read up on colour theory, especially colour temperature. (I want to recommend the colour theory course CA was selling, but I have no idea where those are now, or even if they're still available? James Gurney's "Color and Light" is also a good resource.) You seem to find some sort of local colour, and then just lighten and darken it to shade, instead of really observing what's there. I'm seeing some colour variation, but not enough. Also, be more aware of greys - you're very rarely going to see a pure grey without at least a little colour in it. Taking the eyedropper to your knight, you've managed this in some places, with a slight yellowish tint, but there's pure grey in there, too. Same with the book in your apple still life. Again, you're doing it often enough that I think you understand the principle, but you need to pay more attention. Really look at the colours. This goes double for skintones, and you seem to be doing a pretty good job with it in your studies, especially that master study. Bring some of that into your imagination work - that naked horned woman further up the page has skin that's almost entirely the same hue.

You've got a lot of weaknesses with anatomy/structure/proportion, but you're doing all the right studies to push forward on that, and you're already improving, so keep it up! =)

Rev just said it all! Especially the bit about the colors in your paintings. But I can see improvement, just try to observe the colors more.

Also try to go for some anatomy studies.

    Keep it coming!

sweet sketchbook and a fair amount of studies! keep pushing it, I can tell improvement with every few updates from page to page, go back from time to time to see how you improve it will keep you motivated and show that you are making progress.
Keep tackling all the good stuff, anatomy, perspective, values, color, you'll get there just keep drawing every day if possible.

    Yo yo yo,

Good to see the persistence. Definitely keep that going.

Looking through your stuff on the last few pages and I think you spend too much time painting. Take a few steps back and focus more on your drawing skills and getting your values looking right. At the stage that you're at, it's all about foundations! This is the stage that can be a bit boring since you're basically just doing studies 80% of time, but its worth the grind!

Keep the momentum going, that's the biggest part!

    Cheers

i like your colour studies and your textures, especially your shiny surfaces. though i think you really need to change the positioning of the waist-tie of that WIP guy with the gun. it's kind of too suggestive where it is at the moment. maybe on the side, or a buckle instead?

Hey man I see hard work in here and your latest digi still life shows some improvement!
Nice to see a variety of colours in your latest work compared to some earlier paintings which had very saturated colours all round,
I see there are consistent recommendations for you to study values with basic shapes which will definitely help you understand and improve your approach to more complex shapes the more you practice it, it has been most beneficial for my practice so hopefully you will see the same improvement the more you practice, keep pushing!

I would suggest adding more colours and values in your paintings. Not only main colours, but colours between them. You know.

Duddee your still lifes have improved a lot! Really cool to see that. Keep working on that anatomy and logging the hours, the improvements showing. Might I suggest more gestures though? I just recently started doing them every day again and immediately felt/saw a difference. Its good stuff

It great that you're going to attend a riley based class, I have learnt a lot from that method.
When you asked me about books these two links were the first things I thought of giving you
ProkoTV < A youtube channel of an instructor who teaches at the watts atelier.
RadHowTo < A blog full of demos about constructive anatomy.

I found the Fun in Fundamentals

PNate:i did in fact, i have a Goal to do 2000 gestures by the end of March

    ezekrialase: Will do thanks

    Jizu : Thanks Drake

M.Calza : i know man, once i finish my portfolio for school i will definitely love to take some live drawing class

Niam : definitely, i'm actually trying to save up for those classes man

Flaskpost : This is not flexing, i still have a long way to go man thanks though

adamsimons : Yes Riley is awesome man and Thanks for the sources

    JamesSimons : Yes master

Just Call Me Bruce! : fuck yeah success.

These past few days i've been think how easy i've been going on myself and i've changed that. No more laziness or excuses, i want to be a fucking artist and i have to work my butt off. i don't want to go a day without feeling like, yes, i drew the shit out of everything today. Also i have problems with reading which frustrates me and i tend to drop anybook i'm reading at that moment- maybe i have dyslexia, but i'll work my way out of that son of a bitch so i can read my art books. other than that let's get started, i want to be a fucking Artist.

    Goals
2000 gestures by the end of march
50 self portraits by the end of march

    that's the goal for now....
