Quick practice in using some calmer colors, not relying on gradientmaps. Inspired by the great work of Thomas Scholes.

Hey thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I especially like this one. You've got a great sense of color and composition in your paintings; Just looking around at some of your quicker paintings like that last one you posted make me want to try something similar.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Thanks you both, for the kind words
Here an illustration I did inspired by the Wintersday Event of Guild Wars 2.

Awesome stuff! I like the way your pieces flow, if that makes sense haha.
Happy holidays.![]()
Hey,
Nice stuff you've got here. Especially like the environments.
Kinda reminds me on TomSchole's works.

Great work. Keep posting.
Your enviroments are coming along VERY strongly. Fantastic color schemes/palettes.
Thank you very much both! Always glad to hear, keeps me motivated.
Something that didn't keep me motivated was this painting. Don't really like the composition, nor the palette. I felt like I was wasting my time on it, so I'll likely not finish this any further..

On this last enviro composition, I feel that the two big foreground trees are what's disturbing the piece. Try removing the middle foreground tree all together and then remove the right one too and instead place two trees in the middleground. That's my take on how you can clear the clutter. Also, have a little more variation in your browns. They all have this warm tone. Try bringing some cool tones from the back to create more depth.
Other than that, it's still a good piece.
Very nice mood and colours!)
last three environments are awesome man! great colors! think I liked the colors of the last one better in the earlier version thoughkeep it up!
Thanks a lot for the feedback! I indeed felt there was a lack of color range. I tried bringing in some blue/grey tones in an earlier phase, but utterly failed.
And good point regarding the tree. I thought of this piece as a still that could be from a movie, where the camera moved trough the trees. But I should realize that it can't be translated that easily :p
@n1frit: Thanks!
@Magellan: Thank you :3 I kind of did too, but felt it was too much of the same colorrange. So tried adjusting it. But not for the best
Here some pose scrabblings

When scaling my image down, photoshop makes it some sort of cripsy, like I threw an intense sharpen on top of it. Anyone knows how to turn this off? Wasn't that way on my previous computer, maybe it's a CS6 thing.
Either way, some touch ups on the previous work, and a new one, using structures of Thomas Scholes.

Hey I remember you from deviantart, this is mutiny. If I could give you one piece of advice, I'd say don't worry about style. Your style will develop naturally over time. Concentrate on content, what you want to say with your art. Everything else will fall into place with practice.
