Okay, so I'm not actually going to have time to really do this, but the topic looked like fun and I needed some practice. So here's my stab at it. (couldn't resist the pun) Anyways, just some thumbnails that are a little all over the place.

Ricardo Robles: love how this is developing. I hope you do finish.
IDP: Your rendering is coming along, but consider loosing the noodle. I don't think it's really necessary and it's lowering the appeal factor of your character... just an opinion.
SaintLConcept: don't feel bad, it is a tricky topic.

yinteck, I like your design and interpretion of a modern samurai the most. A samurai is a proud and good armored servant of his emperor thus the idea of a such transfered to a modern world would be of course an elite soldier, while a lot here look more like gang leaders, freelancer assasins, urban ninjas or just kids with guns (no offense here, that's just like I personally see the designs here). The same you did to the appearance wich contains a mask, a hat wich represents a high status, symbols of his regimen, stylish armor and clothing and my favorite, a high tech katana! If the CHoW isn't over I would love to see one with a stylish helmet to get even closer to a samurai design.
