I am Elky, 14 years old, freshman in highschool.
One day I want to call myself a good artist and show my parents I am not a piece of shit artist they think I am.
Then I will convince them to let me attend art school.

beautiful drawings (:
keep it up!
just some figures/gestures whatever you call them. i have more in my sketchbook irl. i might up them. idk.
a 5 min value thing before i go to sleep...
At your rate you won't need and Art so as much as a design school. You have a good eye and design is something you need to look at more. Communication is the main part of design.
Studies are fine but you need to start communication.
just a ~3 hour doodle... idk. the contrast i completely crapped up. I had a very stressful week... failed so many tests. more exams next week. fml. orz
mateism: yeah. i should look at design as well as studies. I shall try my best!

Darn it another one. You freshmen artists make me feel old and kinda depressed. And I'm just 18! Haha, good luck with the move, I'm glad your life's gettin' better. These studies seem quite advanced to me already, I can't wait to see the day you consider yourself good!
Keep up this kind of work and I think soon you'll be good enough to make a lot of money from art. I think you might even be able to get to pro level without art school.
This is a thread about art school, I don't know if you've read it but if not you should read it.
I also suggest checking out the teen challenge
Good luck Elk, please keep posting!

Great job on your latest piece, on the face and neck particularly. There's some nice color variation. The arms could use some more work though, the arm on left looks a little backwards to me.
You are definitely getting better! I wish I was this good when I was your age, keep it up!
studying more from refs... painting this up after dinner. so here is blobs right now.

Really terrific stuff! I agree with mateism, you won't need art school, more of a design school. You already have a good understanding of drawing and painting. I've been studying for around 6 yrs now in college, and i am no where near your level yet.
keep it up
Man, you sure are young. You'll go a long way. When I was at your age, I was still drawing fanart of anime. >_o So subscribing. Never stop drawing.
Good stuff. post 16 is epic cool. love her freckles..
You attend a school for art because you are NOT good at drawing, sillyIf you were good, it'd just be a waste-o-money. Unless of course, in the next 4 years you REALLLY push yourself and end up being one of those super awesome kids to get full scholarship stuff. Then hey, More~ money
Nice start!! on most of this work. You have an excellent understanding of the face, and I don't think anyone will question me with some of your digital painting techniques either. However, i think you need to focus more on the gesture, especially when you draw from imagination. My suggestion might be going on a site like http://lovecastle.org/draw/ and doing a lot of 15 second ones and 30 seconds. Capture all energy in that time. Focus less on the anatomy being correct and more how the body distributes itself. Think of the body as a whole, and less as individual parts.
design design design + gesture. okay. i need to get that down.
thankyou so much for the compliments and criticism!
First thing I'll tell you right off the bat: Your attitude needs to change a bit.
From the few posts you've made to the sketchbook, I can already tell there's a bit of bitterness and a bit of a pessimistic attitude in regards to your work. It sounds like your parents aren't very supportive of what you love, but you know, that something so many artists have to deal with. In the end, you'll be so much happier if you thought less like I'll show them I'm not a bad artist, in spite, and more like I can do this anyway, I'll be great.. You might not understand it, but I have noticed those with a considerably more positive attitude succeed faster because they are in the right mindset. You already have the makings of a great potential artist at the age of 14, embrace it. Know that you're on the right track, but don't stop there. You always want to be critical of your work, its what makes us want to get better, but don't let it hinder your progress either.
That being said, you're doing fantastic at this age. Great sense of color and form. Don't be in a rush to learn tons of things all at once.. i know its really hard! I get excited too, hahah! But you have years and years to learn all these things. Focus on your foundations and drawing what you love.
Keep it up! I'll be on the look out for this sketchbook.

i wonder if i could get some pointers on color n atmosphere.. i feel that its prob one of my worst areas and is heavily weighing down my abilities in enviros.
