Another one I finished today.The picture is kind of shitty but that's nothing new.



Some more studies/copying of my favorite artists.All of them are drawn after Alex Maleev sketches except for the first one,who's an old time strongman called Maurice Jones.
The Batman came out pretty crappy with the brush markers I had available.Maleev paints with watercolors if I'm not mistaking but I only have tempera and acrylics for now,so I'll use those when I'm doing other studies of his sketches to get a more accurate reproduction.



I'll post more stuff later when I finish it.

I painted the background with acrylics.I like the combination between paint and graphite so I'll experiment more and see if I can come up with something a bit more bold.

A self portrait I made on the tablet,which came out looking really off and I can't figure out why my eyes look like that.



I also did these 2 poses last night on the tablet as I'm starting to draw on it again and trying to get more comfortable with it.




Punisher looks like he's trying to take a dump and the guns are shit but I'll get the hang of more dynamic poses soon enough.

Eventually,I'll have to learn the digital trade but I've been avoiding it lately like the plague.I don't even have Photoshop and the small amount of sketches I did with the tablet were done in Paint Tool Sai but I'm trying to sketch something daily on it to learn the ropes as fast as possible.
I'm still a fan of traditional work by a country mile.

The first of many experiments I'll be making with my friend,Eric.We'll do famous actors as iconic comic book characters.I do the pencils and send him the scan to paint it digitally.

I haven't updated this thread in quite some time.That's because I've been slacking off and I recently got back on the horse.I started learning how to draw in Photoshop and Painter.
These are my first ever drawings in both programs:

So far I'm liking Painter more because it seems a bit easier and the overall look just feels more realistic,but I'll try and learn how to work in both and after a few months I can tell which one suits my needs better.
I'm having a tough time with the layers,they confuse the hell out of me even after I've seen 2 tutorials.If someone has any advice on any subject related to these programs,please share.

This was the sketch after the digital drawing with Santa was made.I started playing with it and this is what came out.It's an ink wash done with some black matte manga ink from deleter.

Good skull studys! I know its a very generic advice but I think the thing that would help you the most is to get an anatomy book and practice fundamentals of figure drawing. It is helping me personally a lot and I regret not to have done it earlier!

Well,all the anatomy studies done are from Atlas of human anatomy for the artist by Stephen Rogers Peck.As for figure drawing,I'm doing sketches from Posemaniacs and started drawing more from life even though it's pretty hard to find people who will sit for me or even go to public places and draw because it's cold as hell outside and it just snowed.It's frustrating the hell out of me that I can't do more dynamic poses out of my head,but I guess I'll be able to once the basics are understood better.
I finally got a scanner from a friend of mine who wasn't using it,so now everything done on A4 paper won't actually look so bad.

Id suggest you to get some kind of simplified model to build up your positions. The mannikin method from loomis is really working out for me. Before you put muscels and stuff it is much more important to get the proportions and the shapes right. If you start with simplified models or even some kind of stick figure it is afterwards when you got all the masses at the korrekt places way easier to break them into single muscles then if you dont have understandment and you start more or less right away with building muscles.

Funny you mentioned it because I was reading Figure drawing without a model by Ron Tiner a few days ago and he said to draw stick figures first,to gain familiarity with the mechanics of figure movement and work your way up to simplified cylinders and blocks in order to build a conception of the body as a solid object in your mind.
I did start doing some stick figures,just haven't posted them yet.
Thanks for taking the time to give some advice though,I was thinking that posting in my thread was becoming a waste of time since no one actually bothered to give some useful information on improving lately.
